If you have been invited to a wedding and you don’t have a clue what to wear, then this blog post might be of use to you. Finding the right wedding outfit can be a tricky task and there are some things that you need to take into consideration.
Colors
The first thing you need to find out is to see if there is a color scheme. Usually, you can guess this by looking at the invitation. Sometimes, the bride and groom may also have a certain dress code for their guests so make sure to carefully read the invitation prior to going dress shopping.
Hot trends
Maxi dresses have been in the spotlight for a long time and you can never go wrong with them. If you are comfortable wearing long styles then try on different maxi dresses and see which one best suits you.
Asymmetric One Shoulder Maxi Dress
With maxi dresses, it is extremely important that you wear the right shoes. High heels are not recommended because the tail of the dress should cover your feet. Ballerinas would therefore be recommendable, wedges or elegant looking sandals.
Pastel shades
Pastel colors such as pale lilacs or yellows are this summer’s big trend and would suit any special occasion held outdoors. When buying a pastel colored dress think about the color of your skin. Some pastel shades may really suit your skin tone but others may not. Don’t be afraid to ask the sales lady or bring a friend to tell you if the color suits your skin tone because you want to try to avoid the dress making you look washed out.
Comfort
Even though weddings are special days, they are also long days so it is important for you to wear something that you feel comfortable in. Be sure to try on the dress beforehand and make sure that the dress is not too small. In case you are not wearing a maxi dress and are opting for high heels, make sure that you can walk in them for a long period of time, as otherwise your feet will be sore by the end of the evening. Pop some blister plasters in your bag and rub some Vaseline on your foot anywhere the shoes feel tight to prevent them rubbing.
Really good advise. I only wish I had seen this before I attended a Beach Wedding last year. My Pastel Yellow dress did NOT match my skin tone and I DID look washed out. To make matters worse, I decided that morning to color my hair (don’t know what the HELL I was thinking), so my hair also had a yellow tone to it. Needless to say in the photos I looked like Big Bird.
Roozerdo, I don’t look so great in yellow either, although I really, really want to. LOL

Big Bird is quite the visual. I guess more good advice. Never color your own hair on the morning of a major event like a wedding. 😉
I have also learned to not get a haircut in the two weeks prior to a big event. I had really dark hair when I was younger (almost black), so pale to medium yellow combined with black was always a good combination for me. Not so much now with my grey hair. I did not see a location for the wedding. That would certainly play an important factor in choosing what to wear.
LOL, color can be tricky. Even when you think you have it figured out a certain shade can throw you for a loop.

I do like the suggestion to wear a maxi dress and avoid the high heels! 🙂

Whenever possible, I think wearing natural fabrics that breath is a good way to go. Especially if there will be dancing, etc.
