Taste the Heat by Rachel Harris ~ Review

Taste the Heat*Jen received a free copy of Taste the Heat by Rachel Harris from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed are her own and were not influenced by the method in which she received the book.

Taste the Heat gives you just that – a taste of the bow-chicka-wow-wow. It’s funny and sexy without being graphic or dirty. Don’t get me wrong, we all know I like a dirty book, but even without the dirty, this one sold me with the hot fire captain! I appreciated Taste the Heat because it’s well written, made me laugh, and I had more than one swoon moment with Captain Jason Landry.

Colby Robicheaux is living the busy life of a well-known chef in Las Vegas, NV. When a family tragedy forces her to come home to New Orleans and help run her family’s business for the summer, she’s forced to deal with all the memories that she’s been avoiding. Within just a few days of coming back, she’s reunited with a childhood crush ~ her brothers best friend, Jason Landry.

Jason Landry is super freaking delicious! He’s a Firefighter (swoon!), single dad and just an all around super sweet guy. As their story progressed, I found myself at first liking Jason, then totally loving him, to totally wanting to marry that guy! He’s romantic and sweet. The scenes with his daughter just melt my heart. There is nothing better than a hot guy who takes care of his business!

Colby and Jason are obviously attracted to each other. Everyone can see it, including Colby’s brother, Cane. Cane… I need to know his story! Tattooed biker that crunches numbers for a living? Um, YES PLEASE! Where do I sign up??? Okay, back to Colby and Jason – So these two are totally into each other and decide to make good use of their summer. The only problem? They each feel way more than what they are letting on. Their chemistry is combustible (thank goodness Jason is a firefighter!) and sends both of their emotions into overdrive. We all know what happens when we’re feeling overwhelmed… things get heated, people say things they don’t mean, and situations are misinterpreted.

Rachel Harris did an excellent job with giving us just enough to imagine what Colby and Jason were up to without actually writing about doing the “deed”. The secondary characters were well thought out. They helped bring depth and humor to the story. I laughed out loud and woke my husband up on several occasions (sorry honey!). I do wish we would have gotten some sort of epilogue – I want to know what happens after Jason… never mind, I won’t ruin it!

For those of you who don’t like to read the smut, but love a funny, sexy, sweet story – this book is definitely for you!

My rating: 4 – Jason Landry is swoon-worthy stars!

Swoon-worthy? Easy. He goes to a tough job so he can keep a roof over my head, and he looks like my husband. Can’t help it. 😉

Swoon-worthy? A guy who is very sure of himself, but isn’t a cocky bastard. One who cares about others and thinks he should take care of those around him.

It sounds crazy, but a man who is willing to let me be strong, but know I will always want his protection… my hubby has done a GREAT job through the years.

A guy with a cute, tight butt can make me swoon every time–but unless they are also compassionate and loving–the swoon dies not last.
