With spring just around the corner, it’s time to clean those closets, say goodbye to winter and make room for 2013’s biggest trends. 2013 is brighter than ever and no matter what your age is, there’s a little something for everyone. There are a few new colors we can welcome with open arms added to the trend. Luxurious navy blues, icy grays, mint greens and jeweled purples. Classics such as black and white will be making a big debut this year, thus proving anyone can dress like Taylor Swift. Global chic patterns and prints are becoming ever so popular, with the 2013 New York Fashion Week paying homage to Africa and Asia for their generous contributions in the fashion world. Whoever said stripes make you look unflattering obviously didn’t see this season coming. I’m personally not a fan of stripes but it seems as there is no wrong outfit choice when it comes to the stripes. Whether it is in demin or PJ’s, they are in style and planning to stay for a while. It’s all up to your comfort level when you rock the stripes.
Vintage luxe leather looks are “so 80’s”, or are they? More and more designers are promoting leather this season. It’s a time honored tradition. Sorry girls, no sequin dresses here. Those are “so 2012”! Add a luxe leather skirt, pants or dress to your collection. It makes the statement “office girl by day, sexy lady by night.” I’m sure you significant other would be welcoming it with open arms! Eastern and Indian style beads are making their way onto the scene too. Beaded belts are all the rave. You can make your own beaded belt easily or score one at your local Target for half the cost of a designer department store.
Short suits are debuting again and this time around they are designed in all kinds of wild prints. You can find a sassy short suit just about anywhere this season, but try H&M to find a deal on one. I can promise you that you’ll fall in love with the look and feel once you try it on. Sporty dresses aren’t just for the tennis courts anymore. A line “sport” dresses are a hit. You can dress it up with a heel or wedge shoe or daily wear it with some cool canvas shoes. Either way it’s a score. The 90’s pointy heel trend is here again but this time it’s got some variations, from the tiny straps to the ladylike heel for date night. They complete any bermuda short and or boyfriend ensemble. Since we mentioned bermuda shorts, new is casual or as I like to say “vintage” is hot right now. Hit up your local thrift store or yard sale for a super score on bermudas and jazz them up with the pointy heel and a loose, baggy button down shirt. Discount stores have an abundance of hidden treasures once inside.
Peek-a-boo, I see sheer making its way in 2013. From the midriff baring to the ‘up to where?’ split, you can make your sheer sexy at whatever level you are comfortable with. Turn heads however you choose to wear it, with a tank underneath or a same colored bra. Either way you will be noticed! We touched on denim earlier, let’s finish this segment off in the know with denim. Everyone remembers the Beverly Hills, 90210 fad right? Well get ready to break out your 90’s denim cause the trend is making its way back around. Jackets, jeans and even purses. Aren’t you glad you held on to that denim jacket for so long?
With so much going on this year, we have a lot to look forward to. You don’t have to have a million bucks to look like a million bucks. My closet is bulging with items from my favorite stores like Target, Kohl’s, H&M, Hollister, and hand me downs. I will be touching on everything you can think of next time from nail polish to recipes at times. If you have any thoughts, comments, opinions, email me here email@example.com. I’ll end with one of my favorite quotes from CoCo Chanel. “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous”.
Until next time dolls,
