Seven Day Fiance by Rachel Harris~Review & Giveaway

Seven Day Fiance by Rachel Harris*Jen received a free copy of Seven Day Fiance by Rachel Harris from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.. The opinions expressed are her own and were not influenced by the method in which she received the book.

Rachel Harris is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! Her dynamic and smoldering male leads are easy to fall in lust with. Her writing is quick paced with just enough detail that you don’t feel like you’re rehashing facts over and over (this drives me NUTS!). All of her characters feel genuine because she’s taken the time to develop their personalities. Long before anything physical happens between the male and female leads, we know what makes them tick, why they make the choices they’ve made, how their past has affected their present – which makes their connection feel unquestionable and genuine. This scores huge points with me! I want to feel like what I’m reading is realistic and Rachel delivers every time!

Back in July, I reviewed Rachel’s first book in the Love and Games series (Taste the Heat) and if you remember, I LOVED Cane and wanted to know his story. Rachel has delivered Cane – in a fantastic way! I picture a hot biker guy with lots of tattoo’s, who wears nerdy glasses and does Sudoku puzzles. He is fiercely protective of his family but doesn’t allow himself to get close enough to have meaningful relationships – thanks to his cheating father. He’s like the perfect mix between bad boy and sweetheart – any girl would fall for him. Not just any girl catches Cane’s attention – or keeps it – until he meets Angelle Prejean. Angelle (Angie for short) is a striking red-head who captures Cane’s attention from their first meeting. Angelle is sweet, determined and slightly clumsy. She and Cane have chemistry from the start but she’s friends with his sisters and because of his commitment issues, he doesn’t pursue her… Until sweet Angelle propositions him to help her out of a mess she’s created. In her quest to create a new life for herself, Angelle has created a fake fiance. How do girls get themselves into situations like this? Oh right, nosy, controlling parents who only want the best for their daughter but have never really let her live her own life before. Those kinds of situations can make a girl do some crazy things!

“Angling his mouth so their lips were barely touching, he said, “Desire, Angie. Attraction. We have it. We don’t have to fake that. And since we’re alone, and that’s my ring on your finger, it seems only fair I get to steal a kiss.”

So while Angelle and Cane play pretendy fiance – we get to experience them realize feelings they’ve probably had all along. There are bumps along the way, including a gigantic screw up from Cane that made me want to smack him upside his beautiful head. Cane delivers a grand gesture at the end of the book will make your heart melt and leave you a swooning puddle of lust. I wish all book boyfriends could be as sweet and tender as Cane turns out to be! Be on the lookout for a third book in this series that will center around Cane’s sister, Sherry!

My Rating: 4 swoony stars!

I like to hear that the author builds the character before the romance. I’ve read a couple books that was not the case and it didn’t make a good story.

Well.. what makes a man sexy in real life or in books. 😉 Because I think my husband is sexy as all get out. He is a provider and has the cutest butt in the world. He also wears glasses (not nerdy) and he loves to do his sudoku puzzles every morning. 😉 But in the books.. which is nothing like my husband… is the alpha male, take control and know what he wants.. and takes it. LOL..

I really like it when authors take the time to actually develop the characters in the book and don’t leave the reader guessing. I’m an avid reader and this is an important fact for me. This book looks like an interesting tale that is a little bit racy but not over the top. Thank you for sharing your find.

I love when a book has a strong and engaging male main character. You did a great job of bringing the characters to life and setting the scene for what happens in the plot.

Well, what makes for a sexy hero… He needs to have self assurance, but not arrogance. Be handsome ideally, or at least have sex appeal. He needs to treat women properly. He needs to love the heroine and look out for her 🙂
