The Selection for September will be The Help, written by Kathryn Stockett. This is the book clubs first slightly older release, as it was released in 2009 and it was made into a movie in 2011. Hopefully this will make the book easier to access at the library or even a used book store. Happy reading everyone, and just like in previous months, we will discuss the book at the end of September.
For me, reading a great book isn’t just something to do for an hour or two, it’s something I get lost in. I can read half a book without realizing I have turned a page. If the book is really good, I dream at night that I am the characters and have even been known to walk around in the haze of the world created only in the fiction I have read. I hope to share my passion for reading all genres of books with you and hope that we can have some great discussions. You can contact Jodie at jodie@imperfectwomen.com
I will be reading. I need to get started. Love the movie.
I haven’t seen the movie yet, but we have it DVR’d. I’m waiting to read the book first. 🙂
I loved the movie. Going to grab my copy this weekend. I know it’s going to be a good read.
If you haven’t seen the movie, my advice would be to read the book first. Makes the movie much easier to follow. Great read, it goes fast.
Lily, I agree. The movie follows the book pretty close, although of course not as detailed, so reading it first is for sure the way to go. Looking forward to our discussions! Does anyone have a recommendation for Oct?
Has the next book been picked yet? If not, I would suggest “On the Island” by Tracey Garvis-Graves.

Thanks Mo for the recommendation! That will be our selection for Oct! The review for The Help will be up and posted very soon!
I read the book before I saw the movie and I also recommend reading the book first but I think that about every book turned into a movie. The book is ALWAYS better.

I’m not sure how much I can contribute to the discussion since I read it a little while ago and I’m bad at remembering things after I’ve read them. But I look forward to hearing everyone’s ideas and opinions about it.
