HBO True Detective Season 1

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free.

My husband and I are addicted to crime dramas. We watch them all. This past January we knew that True Detective, which stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harelson (that pretty much seals its success right there), would be one that we would not miss.  It did not disappoint.

Season one of True Detective used multiple timelines that followed two Louisiana State Police homicide detectives, Rust Cohle and Martin Hart, trying to solve a murder of a young woman. During the course of the 17 years that was chronicled in this series, it became evident that they were hunting for a serial killer. McConaughey and Harelson’s gave fascinating performances as they showed off their characters dark sides. The storyline was gripping and suspenseful and exactly the type of show that would encourage one to order HBO.

I can’t think of a better gift for Father’s Day than to give Dad Season 1 of True Detective. A great show beats receiving a plaid tie or another pair of socks any day! Best Buy is a great place to get this HBO series, which releases on June 10. Dad will have all summer to catch up on this series so he can be ready for Season 2, which is rumored to start in January of 2015 and will have some big name stars as part of the cast.

Best Buy has a huge selection of HBO Series available that would make great gifts not just for Father’s Day but for any gift giving occasion. These include HBO’s Game of Thrones, Eastbound and Down and Curb Your Enthusiasm (one of my husband’s favorites).

“HBO All on Sale” will be available from 6/8 – 6/14 at Best Buy – both in store & online.

Don’t delay, you only have a little over a week to pick out your gift before Father’s Day. Giving one of the HBO series available at Best Buy will make Dad happy and give you the satisfaction of giving not only a great gift, but a unique one!

I received a copy of True Detective Season 1 for writing this post. All opinions are my own.

I’ve never seen True Detective (we don’t have HBO.) I’ll have to mention this to my husband. It sounds like something he’d be into seeing.
