The Summer Blockbuster season is upon us and there are a plethora of movies from which to choose. Since even I can’t see them all (though I do give it my very best shot!) I’m taking requests.
What movies would you like to see reviewed?
Here’s the “short” list of what I’ve seen since Memorial Weekend, in no particular order:
Iron Man 2
Toy Story 3
Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Shrek Forever After
Get Him to the Greek
Letters to Juliet
Robin Hood
MacGruber
Sex and the City 2
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Killers
Marmaduke
Splice
The A-team
The Karate Kid
Cyrus
Grown Ups
Despicable Me
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
Requests for upcoming but as yet unreleased movies are also welcome, so I can plan my Friday nights accordingly!
I heard The Sorcerer’s Spprentice was lousy. I like Nicholas cage, though, and loved the National Treasure movies. What did you think?
Please review MacGruber. I can’t imagine how they stretched those 20 second gags into a feature film?
Do you watch old movies on Netflix?
I just saw the Sorcerer’s Apprentice Wednesday. That review will be coming up next!
MacGruber – check! Especially since it should be coming to DVD soon.
I watch lots of old movies on Netflix. And if I haven’t seen it I’ll definitely put it at the top of my queue. I’m always looking for movie suggestions. I’ve seen so many it’s hard to find ones I haven’t already seen!
Keep ’em coming!
Inception? I really liked Memento by the same director as well as Shutter Island.
I’m hoping to see Inception this week.
Shutter Island is recent to DVD so I’ll add that to my list!
Memento was excellent. Confusing but original. I always like that!
Oh Memento was great, wasn’t it? I couldn’t even use the bathroom because I had to *think* through the whole thing. Coincidentally, my son just saw it on Netflix while he was watching the house and we were away.
Tiffany, have you ever seen “Like Water for Chocolate”? I am not sure I liked the movie. The book evoked a stronger attachment to the characters, for me.
Hi Tiffany, here’s my two choices, even though you’ve said you’re already doing one. Looking forward to it. Hope you and yours enjoy the movies.
Despicable Me
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
Oops, you’ve already done Despicable Me. It’s right on the front page and I looked right over it. Sorry about that.
Anna, I have not seen Like Water for Chocolate, though it’s one I hear reference a lot in pop culture these days. It’s going on the Netflix list for sure!
I’m working on The Sorcerer’s Apprentice review.
And I just saw Inception last night! Or what I’m dubbing Shutter Island 2.
Keep the requests coming!
So we should get Shutter Island?
I see movies at home. I don’t care for the movie theater “experience.” Popcorn makes me thirsty; I don’t want to drink soda; I can’t bring my beloved seltzer water in; but the popcorn smells too good to resist; everything is too expensive; it’s too loud/cold; I have trouble sitting still for that long…yadayadayada. netflix loves me, and I love them right back.
We just watched Doubt. Have you seen that? I thought it was great.
Ann, Shutter Island is excellent. You have to REALLY follow it, though. It’s got a great twist that I never saw coming!
And I’m one who LOVES the movie theater experience, it’s the way I prefer to see all my movies (I guess that’s obvious!) Sure, it’s more expensive. But I can’t recreate that full theater feel at home. Plus, at home there are a million and one different interruptions and distractions. At the theater, you are REQUIRED to turn off your cell phones and not talk to anyone. I wish I could get that at my house!
I thought Doubt was fantastic. I’m a big Amy Adams fan, Philip Seymour Hoffman is incredible and Meryl Streep never fails to amaze me!
I wouldn’t have described myself a fan of Adams, Streep, or Hoffman until today. I loved Doubt.
Tiffany, I am so glad you love the movies and write reviews here. And you make a good case for the theater experience. (Psst! Don’t answer the phone…)
I like the theater experience; I’m just too lazy to actually go as much as I’d like.
Tiffany, do you plan to see “The Kids are Alright”? I kind of want to see that. It got really good reviews, at least the ones that I saw.
LOL Ann. The phone is the least of my disturbances at home!
Jennie, I have full plans to see The Kids Are All Right, hopefully this weekend. It just opened in my area today (it’s opened in other parts of the country earlier this month.) I have been anxiously awaiting this one for a while! It looks excellent!!
Please Review Inception. Thanks!
The Inception review is in the works!! Look for it soon!
I’m looking forward to your review of The Kids Are Alright as well.
OK, well I’m totally living that whole Senior Moment thing! I reviewed Shutter Island back in February!!
Here’s the link Shutter Island.
