Rachael Ray Nutrish Zero Grain Dog Food Makes for Happy, Healthy Dogs

By Pam@IW

We have rescued four dogs over the past 20 years and one thing we have learned is that a good diet is key to having a happy and healthy dog. Finding dog food that is a good fit for your dog, one that they will eat and one that is healthy and nutritious, is so important. Dog food

Cubby Bear and Wrigley (can you tell my husband is a big Chicago Cubs fan?) are our two lovable pups. They were both familiar with Rachael Ray Nutrish dog foods prior to receiving this package but had never tried the ZERO GRAIN recipes. Recently, we took Cubby to the vet because she seems to have some type of skin allergy and our vet recommended going grain free to see if that would help. That is why we were so excited to partner with Rachael Ray Nutrish Zero Grain Dog Food and find this wonderful package on our doorstep.

Cubby Bear and Wrigley

Cubby is an 11 year old girl who is still full of tons of energy and loves to chase balls. Her partner in crime is 4 year old Wrigley and although he is tiny in size, he pretty much is the alpha dog.

Cubby and Wrigley love getting mail and they were not shy about checking this package out. There was a package of Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Zero Grain™ Beef with Bison and a fun squeaky toy. Even Mom and Dad received a super nice surprise…a Rachael Ray Cucina cutting board and a set of Santoku knives!

Good Nutrition

The main reason I was excited for Cubby to try the Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Zero Grain™ Beef with Bison Recipe was because there are never any grains, glutens or fillers. Since our Vet thought that grains might be contributing to her skin allergy issues, this was a big plus. In addition to this, it is is made with simple, natural ingredients like real U.S. farm-raised beef, which is always the number one ingredient, combined with wholesome vegetables. This is something that Wrigley can benefit from too! I also love that there are zero artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors and no poultry by-product meal. Simple and natural ingredients that contribute to a healthy and happy dog!

wrigley licking his lips

Did my dogs like Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Zero Grain™ Beef with Bison dog food? They most certainly did as is evident in the picture above where Wrigley is licking his lips and chowing down. Cubby loved it too but Cubby likes just about any kind of food. The important thing with Cubby is that we feel we have seen improvement in her coat and skin in just the past few weeks. There is less redness and irritation and she is scratching a lot less.  Please also remember to transition your dog into any new food by slowly mixing the new food with their other food over the course of five to ten days until your dog is solely eating the new food. This will help avoid any digestive issues.

Exercise, Grooming and Routine Checkups

Good nutrition is one of the most important things you can do to keep your dog healthy and happy but it isn’t the only thing. Exercise and play time is an absolute must and that should be part of their regular day to day routine. Routine bathing and brushing will keep your dog’s coat healthy and allow you to really examine their skin for any issues. Make sure they have regular checks with your veterinarian and that their vaccinations are up to date. Consult with your vet to find the right products to keep your dog free of parasites.

Cubby and Wrigley exhausted after chasing their new toy and going for a walk.

Rachael’s personal proceeds go to Rachael’s Rescue, a charity created to help shelter pets in need. To date we have donated over $9MM. This money has gone toward food, medical supplies and treatments for these unfortunate animals. Unlike our competitors, we pride ourselves on bringing pet specialty quality food to the masses. We are the first premium brand that is only available in grocery/mass retailers like Target, Walmart and Amazon. In a hyper- competitive category, we are very happy to say that we are the fastest growing dry dog food brand in the grocery/mass space. Contributing to the brand’s success is the approachability, accessibility and connection to Rachael Ray, who brings on-trend humanization of pet food and represents the charitable Rachael’s Rescue component.

I had no idea that Rachel Ray had a grain free line of Nutrish! Our Dalmatian has some skin issues and I certainly will be discussing with her vet if this is something that would for her! Your pups are adorable!

It’s SO important for our dogs to eat healthy. I have heard great things about this brand and would definitely be interested in feeding it to my dog.

I’ve seen commercials for this – I’ll have to try it. We feed our dog and cats grain-free food because it’s healthier for them and more in line with the diets they are evolutionarily suited for. Some people think it really doesn’t matter but I’ve been told by vets that feeding pets the proper diet can have positive effects on their lifespan and health in later years.

This approach to dog food totally makes sense to me. I’m sure dogs don’t eat grains in the wild. Cultivating a food that matches with their natural diet would seem the best.

I’ve learned that what you put into your dog or cat makes a big difference. The better the food the better their skin, coat, ears and it also changes the amount of times they poop.
