Gosselin Chatter has been somewhat quiet the last few days. The long holiday weekend has most of us outside enjoying what’s left of summer. Truthfully, there hasn’t been that much to discuss recently. No new episode on Monday, kids. TLC is re-running that cake show with the guy who seems more uptight than Kate Gosselin on her worst day.
Actually, I decided to avoid the show after the last viewing sent me rushing to the kitchen cabinets in search of something (anything) with sugar. Somehow the two-year-old marshmallows didn’t really satisfy the craving I was having for a four-tiered devil’s food cake with butter cream icing.
So back to Jon & Kate – yes, things have been quieter than usual. Eddie Cibrian has usurped Jon’s place in the tabloids as worst divorcing dad EVER. Cibrian chose to skip his son’s first day of school so that he could vacation in Cabo with his ladylove LeAnn Rimes. At least Jon had the decency to see the sextuplets off to their first day of junior kindergarten. Oh, and the Duggars stole the good kind of limelight with their announcement that a 19th child would soon be joining their brood. Congrats.
Should Gosselin bloggers simply pack it up? Fear not, my Gosselin gossip devotees, there is still a lot happening in Gosselin-land!
-Jon Gosselin has a new Twitter account and already has nearly 33,000 followers! I know what you are thinking – this guy spends 24/7 on his cell texting – how will he find the time? Color you cynical! For important updates such as these, you make the time:
*Just for the record this is actually me 🙂
*Home!!!!! The kids loved the vegas treats (now just have to clean up the sugar factory wrappers). Definitely worth it though, missed them!
-An ambulance was called to the Gosselin home on Saturday. Before anyone freaks out – the kids are just fine. Jon’s elderly grandmother (remember the cute little old lady from the sextuplets’ 3rd birthday party?) apparently fell in the driveway. (She’s going to be ok). The reporting on this story was fascinating to me – it basically confirmed what I have been seeing for the last several months – the Gosselins are subject to a level of scrutiny very few other celebrities (A-D list) even come close to. What a lot of pressure.
-Speaking of scrutiny, the scuttlebutt is that Kate Gosselin received a personal letter from Hugh Hefner offering her $400k to pose in Playboy. Kate was apparently mortified and turned the offer down. Good move Kate. I don’t think you should style your post-reality TV show career on the moves of Heidi Montag Pratt. JMO.
-Last week ABC teased us with just a snippet of their new Jon Gosselin interview. The rest is set to air this week. I have the feeling this interview is going to be painful to watch. As many of you who have followed the G’s know – Jon isn’t the best at articulating a coherent sentence. So far, we have been advised that Kate treated Jon like a “lame fish.” Perhaps he meant duck? (Not that that makes sense either in the context of the sentence). Note to self – stop trying to understand Jon Gosselin!
-Probably the Gosselin related event I am most looking forward to this week, however, is Kathy Griffin (yes!) channeling Kate on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “Kate Is Enough: The Kate Gosselin Story” will air on Wednesday with Kathy as Kate and George Takei assuming the role of Jon. The fact that Takei is 35 years older than Jon, gay and Japanese just adds to the ridiculousness of the whole deal. This sounds epic – I hope I am not disappointed!
Anything I missed, folks?
