Operation Spyglass, a joint operation between the SBI and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, arrested 25 of North Carolina’s “hardcore child exploiters” and said it was just the beginning of an effort to crack down on Internet pornography and child sexual abuse.
Among those arrested was William Johnson Blankinship of Wake County and an online editor with The Learning Channel. He was charged with 10 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor (distribution of child pornography) and confined to the Wake County Detention Center under $20,000 secured bond. IMDB does have Blankinship listed as working as a on line editor for Jon and Kate Plus 8, 17 Kids and Counting, Table for 12 among others.
Others arrested included include a Sampson County teacher, a Robeson County firefighter and an active-duty Marine captain according to the the attorney general’s report. Attorney General Roy Cooper says some of the images portrayed children as young as 3. “These crimes are exploiting innocent children and contributing to their continuing misery and abuse,” said Cooper.
