New Season Of DWTS Premieres Tonight

Have you picked your DWTS favorite yet? I know that Kirstie Alley annoys quite a few people but I have always been a little fond of her from back when she played Rebecca Howe on Cheers. She has been very candid about her struggle with weight and Maksim Chmerkovskiy has blogged that she is doing better than expected in rehearsals. I will be cheering for her although I do think she will have some meltdowns on camera. She is a bit of a drama queen!

I don’t however believe that Kirstie will bring home the Mirrorball this season. My money is on Kendra Wilkenson. She seems to have the whole package of what is needed to go deep into this competition.

Here are the pairings:

Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Mike Catherwood and Lacey Schwimmer
Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke
Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas
Romeo and Chelsie Hightower
Sugar Ray Leonard and Anna Trebunskaya
Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff
Petra Nemcova and Dmitry Chaplin
Hines Ward and Kym Johnson
Kendra Wilkenson and Louis Van Amstel
Wendy Williams and Tony Dovolani

Who will you be cheering for? Who do you think will go deep into the competition?

Check out the two-hour premiere for season 12 of Dancing With the Stars Monday, March 21 at 8 pm on ABC.

The problem for me is that I have not heard of more than half of the ‘stars’. I am one of those that Kirstie gets on my nerves..but I hope she does well.

I loved Kirstie on Cheers, but not interested in watching at all. May the best win, but I won’t be voting.

I’m watching. I want to see Ralph Machio, Kirstie & Sugar Ray. I like them. The only people I’ve heard of is Kendra Wilkinson who, when Kate was on, said she was a mom who wanted to be there every step of the way and Wendy Williams. I only know Wendy Williams from The Soup. The Soup should have a good time w/her on DWTS.

I have never really watched DWTS in it entirety. I usually watch a little here and there and then find videos on You Tube. Even when Kate was on. It just doesn’t keep my attention for the whole hour or two.

Sugar Ray was good, I thought he would be. Those boxer moves. I love it when they jump rope. So cool.

OMG. No way does Ralph Machio look 49. If he’s had work, it’s the good kind where you can’t tell. He looks great and he was a really good dancer. This time the judges agree w/me.

I forgot to tivo it (I rarely ever get to watch live tv, have to catch up later) but since I got to meet Kirstie Alley years ago, she’s kind of a sentimental favorite for me…I also like Ralph because he’s my age and I had a little bit of a crush on him when “Karate Kid” came out. Don’t know any of the others except for Sugar Ray, kind of indifferent about him. 🙂

Kirstie did a really great job. The judges loved her. I was shocked to learn that she was 60. How did that happen? She looks good. Still sexy.

Whodunit4, Cool that you met her. I’ve liked her in everything I’ve seen her in.

I always loved Star Trek (started watching original series when I was 4!) and the first movie she was in (I believe) was “Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan”, she was at a convention (yes, I was and still am a geek, LOL) in San Antonio, I believe, giving autographs and just kind of mixing and mingling with the fans, she was an unknown then…I remember she was very nice, seemed a little embarrassed about all the attention, and her hair was very thick and luxurious, a lovely shade of auburn-red, and it was full of gold glitter 🙂 …anyway, she was kind to me and my friends and I’ve semi-watched her career since then. Haven’t really seen her in anything current, just that weight loss reality show, maybe one or two eppies.

It was great to see both Kirstie and Ralph top the leaderboard. Everyone was saying that Kendra wa going to take it all…but I think the “older” ones have a thing or two to show us. I enjoyed it.

I haven’t had a chance to watch the whole show but I did see the clip on Kirstie’s routine on Perez Hilton’s site. You Go Girl! She did great! Can’t wait to see the rest.

So Kendra did not do that well?

I think Kendra will do well also…she was so nervous but has natural rhythm. Once she settles in, she will do well. Chelsea from the Disney channel did well also…my daughters are rooting for her. I think the first to go will either be that Mike guy from the radio and Wendy Williams.

I love Michael Bolton and thats why I watched last season (although he didn’t do so great) but I decided to watch last night and it was better than I thought it would be. SHOCKED that Ralph is 49! Wow, how did that happen? He looks like 29! They all did pretty good. That radio guy was so funny, maybe not the greatest dancer but he cracked me up! Kirstie isn’t a favorite of mine but she worked it! 60? Wow, she looks like 40! She is going to give Maksim a run for his money! They all did great. Usually there’s a few that you think will go early but I was surprised how good they all did.

I enjoyed last night’s show. I thought it was great that two of the best dancers were close to 50 and above! I agree with everyone else regarding Ralph – he still has that baby face!
    .
Kirsty, heavy or not, looks fantastic for 60. Hard to believe she is in the same age category as Priscilla Presley with her scary face that doesn’t move. If Kirsty has had extensive work done, she must have the best plastic surgeon in town.
    .
I also wanted to say I really liked the football player – Hines Ward. Didn’t really know anything about him, but I really enjoyed his personality and his dancing.
    .
I am still rooting for Wendy Williams, but similar to Kate, she would really benefit from loosening up…I know, easier said than done.

    Anya,
I know I have said I am kind of fond of Kirstie but honestly, I thought she moved well last night for her weight and age. She looked like she was having fun. I guess part of that probably comes from being an actress.

I was impressed with Hines Ward. I was kind of rooting for Petra Nemacova but she doesn’t seem to be a natural and I wonder if her height will work against her. Kirstie was good too. I kind of have mixed feelings about her – there are things I like about her but she can be annoying, too.

I liked the girl from Disney and Hines Ward. I was also surprised that Ralph M. was 49, he does look great. Im kind of jealous about Kirstie being 60, except for being overweight (not quite as bad as when she had her reality show) she looks fantastic. Anya, Hines is a 13 year wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers and has a squeaky clean reputation. He can light up a room with that smile.

I thought the first elimination was fair but I still expect Wendy to go shortly. I am also very impressed with Hines Ward, I think he will go far in the competetion. I am a huge steeler fan so I will be voting from 3 phones, and of course online! If he couldn’t get his 3rd Super Bowl then he should get the Silver Ball!!!
