    So far I am loving it.   The visit with the pirates was adorable.

    Ten minutes in, and I like this episode.  Cute kids, cute comments.  And look-a-here, Kate’s older girls are exactly like mine are when faced with a bed to share on vacation.  One actually prefers the air mattress on the floor to sharing a queen with her sister because of kicking issues.  I’m with Kate:  “Are they crazy?”

    Uh-oh, as Lily says, the are being forced to fly kites for an hour!  And there is an injury!  Yikes!  I hope Rep. Murt has carefully considered workman’s comp in his bill.  I wouldn’t want legislature to forget the ice packs!

    Hey, I like climbing light houses.  I hope Kate goes up, it’s fun at the top.  Ah, nice compliments to Ashley from Kate.  She’s mature and comes from a good family.  Well done, Carla!

    They are watching a rare event- sea turtles hatching.  OK, these are lucky kids.  What a cool thing to see.  The kids are also really cheerful AGAIN this episode.   Who wants this show to end for these kids?   Not me.  This Bald Head Island visit is GREAT.  Good for the Gosselins!

    Mady’s dry humor is a riot.

    The turtles!!!  Oh, the TURTLES!!!!!!  What an AWESOME experience for those kids!  Anyone that complains about how those children are being “tortured” should be directed to that episode.  What a gift for those children to be able to witness such a miracle, and a beautiful learning experience!!

    Ann, you are so funny.  And, yes, Kate did go to the top of the lighthouse.  I was wondering that myself.

    Okay, how cool was it that kids got to see the baby turtles hatching?  That was something I doubt they will ever forget.

    Mady is a hoot, isn’t she?  I can picture her writing a book someday.  Not the one some people predict, but a humorous, truthful account of their lives.  She’s definitely going somewhere.

    The boys were especially cute tonight with the pirates, and Collin (?) telling Kate he’d protect her from them.

    Loved the show!!!!!!!!!! I will always remember the turtles. The kids had a great time and in the airport Kate was saying Hi and thanks to everyone!!

    Mady is a riot, love her spirit in life.  She has a great future ahead of her.

    My arm hurt watching Kate and the kids trying to fly those kites. LOL

    My family used to go to Ocean Grove, N.J., for the Church of the Brethren General Assembly when I was a child.  Far from being the catastrophe dictated by TLC that Katy Hall described, the attempt to fly kites appeared to be a phenomenom I have lived through (our family was smaller but so was the boarding house at which we stayed): trying to find something to do to entertain restless children in a place at the beach when the weather won’t cooperate. The kites took place after a planned kayak expedition was cancelled.

    Fantastic episode – Kate looked more relaxed.  Great to see Ashleigh, more evidence that not everyone from the past is gone from the children’s lives.

    The turtles were fantastic.  Mady definately has Kate’s sense of humor.

    I think the haters will make something over Cara’s cut fingers and the the little one who was banished from the trutle outing for throwing sand in her sisters eyes.

    Oh my, that was one quick 1/2 hr.    Can’t imagine just how much was left on the cutting room floor!   I wonder if TLC has ever thought of having the children do all the voice-overs?   They are so well-spoken & full of Kate-isms!   Mady does have that certain spark…but I must admit it was a relief for me to see a usually calm & sober Cara –  laughing!  They ALL looked happy!

    ~~~Cringe~~~I do wonder if Kate was caught by surprise w. the short clip of Jon having done the steps w. all 8.
    Okay, it’s on again tonight, whewww, got the DVR set and ready.  By the way, has anyone stopped over at Just Jared and checked out the pictures of Kate jogging?  Holy crap she has a 6 pack!!  Good for her.  Say what you will about a tummy tuck – that 6 pack still takes work.  How do I know?  I had one from the railroad track of damage done from two emergency c-sections and terrible scaring that made me very self conscious.  When I had my hyster I said why not and sad to say my insurance company agreed with the ugly belly and paid for it.  I had a 6 pack initially but filled in the grooves with French Onion dip…… yummy!!  Anyway, just wanted to say she looks great!  I am so jealous!!  As I was looking at the pics I could just hear the hater saying, “that is spray tan”  yea, rigghhhttttt, Kate took the time to spray tan a few abs on prior to her jog just for them or better yet, if you look at pics that don’t have direct sun you can’t see her it as well they will probably say she stopped and had a touch up in between miles.  Oh how cynical I’ve become.
    I’m sure they have, but Cara seemed fine while talking about it, and her Mom was there to console her and comfort her, regardless of what the haters say about it.  As for Alexis being banished – I don’t think she was for very long.  I believe I saw her front and center while the turtles were hatching, and it was AWESOME.  I guess I’ll have to double check to be sure about that.  It was so cool watching the turtles on tv, imagine being there!
    This was a fun episode.  I’m used to hour long episodes, so it went by too quickly for me.  Highlights were anything with Cara and Mady.  They were so adorable putting on their show, or finding a way to complain about sharing that great suite just because they’d have to share that big bed…and iirc Mady stood up for Cara right at the beginning of the episode, when Kate was about to scold Cara for taking something about of Mady’s hand…I’d have to watch it again, but I thought it was a sweet moment.   I’m going to do a re-watch tonight…and I’m wondering if next week’s episode will be at Bald Head too…
    Jennie, the other blogs are buzzing because Kate said to Mady and Cara that she shares a bed with Jamie when they go on trips together.  Of course this is fuel for their “Kate is a lesbian” fire.  I knew when she said that the bloggers would take it and run with it.  That said, I’ve always shared a bed with friends (female) while traveling with them.  I’ve slept in my best friend’s bed at her house while her husband is at work (we’ve known each other since we were two, we were bathed together).  Those people have sick, twisted minds.
    Kat, they are most definitely saying the six pack is “enhanced.”  Of course the other half are mocking her for having cellulite, stretch marks, and loose skin–it is these comments that make me sickest.  You can have your beliefs about whether or not you like someone, but comments like I see on radar about her body make me wonder how they are raising healthy girls with good self esteem; I often think these women must hate their bodies, project it on others and are probably putting that on their kids.  I don’t worry about Kate’s daughters having a good body image, I worry about the kids of those internet bashers.
    Erin Kate-It’s amazing that totally contradictory positions don’t seem to faze the khaterz. On the one hand, they accuse her of being “fake”-cosmetic surgery, etc and OTOH, they attack her for the perfectly normal physical signs of a woman who has been pregnant or is simply not an adolescent any more.  I think you’re right about the message that this sends to girls and young women that, if their bodies do not fit an arbitrary “ideal” female body, they are ugly and even defective even if there is no way that they could attain this body naturally.
    Sharing a bed also allows one to catch up with a visitor’s news: sort of an adult slumber party.  When my mother and I visited London in 1972 we found a very reasonable rooming house that had one double bed in the room and neither of us were about to sleep on the floor.  The khaterz are certainly obsessed  with Kate’s sex life, although I find it hard to imagine how anyone can simultaneously be a husband-stealing succubus with nymphomaniac tendencies, frigid, AND a lesbian.
    Actually, through a substantial portion of American history, bed sharing, including with total strangers in hotels/rooming houses/inns, was the norm. Bedding was expensive. There’s actually a very funny story about Benjamin Franklin and John Adams (who had little in common and didn’t particularly like each other) travelling during the American Revolution for a meeting that the commander of the British forces requested regarding a possible peace overture (it didn’t pan out).  They considered themselves fortunate to be able to find rooms along the way where they didn’t have to share a bed with anyone else, but they did have to share a bed at each stop along the way.  Adams shared the 18th century superstition that night air was full of unhealthy miasmas so that windows had to be firmly shuttered before going to bed. Franklin was an early believer in the benefits of fresh air, as much as possible, regardless of the outdoor temperature. The accounts are that they pretty much spent the whole trip arguing about whether the windows of their room should be opened or closed. I don’t think anyone who has studied either man has ever believed that there was anything remotely sexual about their sharing a bed.
    Cute episode.  The little girls are really growing up.  Their neighbor/blogger was very catty, but I will agree that the kite flying did not look like it went over well.  I don’t think there was any nefarious intent, though :).  I have planned many “wonderful moments” with my kids,  that did not turn out the way I had envisioned.
    –ErinKate – I could not agree with you more about the comments on Radar and other sites about Kate’s body. I pray these women are not raising daughters. Here you have someone like Kate setting a GREAT  example for her daughters and others, i.e. eating right and exercising DOES produce positive results. You will look fit and have no shame showing your belly. It doesn’t mean you will suddenly assume the shape and height of a Heidi Klum, however. And Kate gets slammed?! Wow…. This is why I have always maintained there is a lot of self-loathing in the women that are ultra-critical of Kate.  Very sad.
    –PeggyP – I love your history tidbits. The way you share your knowledge reminds me why I LOVE history. It is not dry or memorizing a bunch of dates – it is fascinating and full of personalities.  I know a bit about John Adams from reading the David McCullough bio. I need to expand my knowledge of Franklin. I do remember hearing about President Lincoln sharing a bed with close friends too when he was a young lawyer.
    BTW, I can’t believe we are even discussing the sharing a bed nonsense, but at least the discussion has taken an interesting and educational turn!
    Twisted morons the other side is!  Honestly, they have very sick minds and probably most need to be under some kind of care.  Dangerous people they are.
    As for the six pack…Kate works hard for it. God bless her.  Of course they’d rag about something else they could never achieve that Kate has.
    Erin Kate, they can’t be raising healthy girls with good self-esteem…they are a bunch of envious women who lack self esteem.  Most are probably not good role models for their daughters and that is very sad.  It may be a never ending cycle of cynism and hate. For the life of me, I wish they will wake up and realize that you work on yourself to get ahead…you do not try to bring someone else who has worked on herself down.
    Cute episode. The kids are adorable as always.
    LOL!!!………..it’s been my experience that kids love TRYING to fly a  kite as much as they love actually flying a kite………..actually I  think they like the trying a bit more to be honest.  My kids did  anyway.  I did finally get a couple up in the air for them but then they  actually had to hold onto the string reel and DO something instead of  watching their Mom acting  like an idiot to get that stupid kite up in  the air.  That wind on the beach was absolutely wicked for sure……it  would have taken an real expert to get a kite up in that!!!………and  there aren’t too many ‘kite experts’ just sitting around………lol
    Wouldn’t we all have loved to experience seeing those turtles coming out  of their nest and make their mad dash to the sea!!!????!!!!
    As for sleeping accomodations or anything else………..don’t worry,  the haters will find something to talk about……..they lead such  pitiful lives apparently they have nothing else to fill their simple  minds except making up things to gossip about.  Poor creatures
    Ooh, John Adams is my favorite founding father! I love how relatable he is – he could be a prickly, sensitive thing. And cranky. I relate to cranky, definitely.
    Um, where was I? Oh, yeah, Kate’s a lesbian. Well, I doubt she is, but I don’t particularly care. I can’t keep the haters who think Kate’s gay and having a torrid affair with Jamie separate from those who think she’s a homewrecker and having a torrid affair with Steve. What-ever.
    I felt some sympathy with the kite-flying fiasco because I’ve been there. It reminded me of why I don’t like kite flying. I think the nighttime turtle excursion probably more than made up for any kite-related trauma on the kids’ part.
