Klepto Cat – A Real Cat Burglar

Dusty likes to keep himself busy at night. When the sun goes down he takes to the streets and when his owners wake up they find some pretty strange “gifts.”

Over the past three years, he has stolen about 600 items from the neighborhood and brought them home to his owners, Jean Chu and Jim Coleman in San Mateo, California. He has taken socks, underwear, towels, bikinis, stuffed animals and pairs of shoes among other items. Neighbors state they do not worry or bother filing a police report because they know where to go if they find something missing.

Recently,The Animal Planet television show ‘Must Love Cats’ installed a camera outside the house and filmed his nightly capers for a week. His record number of items in one night is eleven items.  Dusty appears to be the purr-fect cat burglar.

I’m glad the neighbors have a good humor about this. Hope no one moves to the neighbor that would be afraid what the cat might find. LOL Great story.

OMG, I love this cat. My cats only bring me mice and birds. I can’t say I really want other people’s socks and underwear, but I admire his enterprising spirit. Plus, he’s a handsome boy!

That is such a cute story. It’s the personal things he takes like underwear that would be embarrassing to ask if Dusty copped. Bet the neighbors don’t ask if they have those.
Maybe Dusty has somehow got cross breeded with a real Pack Rat. LOL

Sasha, it was adorable. I had to show it to a couple of my friends when they stopped by. He’s so dedicated to bringing things home.
