I am really enjoying Kate’s Take – Kate’s new blog on TLC. What about you?
The latest installment, “Messy Bessy and the Missing Hairbrush Phenomenon” is very relatable to those of us with girls – heck I am sure parents of boys will relate too! The writing is breezy and it is enjoyable hearing about Kate’s latest adventures raising the eight. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to check it out and leave a kind comment.
If you have been wondering when Kate will begin shooting her new TLC shows, it appears she has started. On Wednesday afternoon, Kate was seen running errands in her hometown accompanied by a film crew. I have not heard any definite word as to when the new shows will start (summer, early fall?) If you know something, please pass it along to your fellow IW readers!
More positive news – yes, we are going to keep being imperfectly positive here at IW – Jon Gosselin has relocated to an apartment in Reading. He has also been seen more frequently at the family home playing with the kids. Many of us have been rooting for Jon to get on a more stable path so he can effectively co-parent with Kate. Let’s hope this positive step is a sign of more progress to come.
Feel free to share your thoughts and chatter away about the Gosselins!
I took a look at the pictures of Jon moving. The apartment building he is moving into looks very nice. How big is Reading?
I wish Jon the best of luck and hope that moving into this new place will be a fresh start for him.
I also wanted to mention this article that was in the Los Angeles Times’ Calendar section on Wednesday. In the actual paper the article was on the front page of the Calendar section with a very large picture of Tony and Kate dancing to the Paparazzi song and the article was called Ballroom Blitz. The picture and title of the article are different in the Los Angeles on line version ( but the article is the same) and you can find that here.
I enjoy reading her blogs. I was reading the Jacket snacking one and peered to the comment section. I am amazed that they are not more carefully screened and the same haters doing their mindless dribble. I saw quite a few trying to catch her in a lie…”what, you were in California last night” type of thing. Well I say to those dummies: “have you checked out the first paragraph? It says RECENTLY.” ugh! They are so dumb. Okay, had to get that off my mind.
I’m glad Jon is progressing in the path that we hope he goes. I hope it’s a positive sign of more progress to come for them to co-parent effectively.
Thanks for the article link, Pam. That is very informative. I don’t doubt that ABC executives and DWTS producers would have liked Kate around for a few more weeks. The fact that I believe she went at a perfectly logical time points to the fact that the show is not rigged. Geez. Sorry had to get that off my chest again!
Since I am not a fan of Idol and am of DWTS (even before Kate), I like that Kate contributed to raising awareness and ratings of DWTS.
Theresa, I know what you mean about the blog comments. I wish TLC would monitor and pull out the really nasty ones. It’s not like these people don’t have other places to share their venom. In any case, I try and just ignore the unplesant comments and leave at least one positive one on each blog post.
Theresa, I assumed that she probably had blogs written prior to them going up, like any columnist who is syndicated, or lots of bloggers these days. I don’t know why the haters go for the least logical explanation.
Jon has not only has a new apartment but also a new girlfriend and a new attorney. I’m kind of shocked at both (more the attorney than the girlfriend). I’m surprised he isn’t considered radioactive in the legal community. I have no paralegal and do my own intakes and am very careful to ask who has represented the potential client in the past and how was the experience. I have had several potential clients come in claiming they were screwed, the attorney was horrible (one woman told me that her attorney threw papers at her–which I believe but I still love the old jerk). Recently I received a court appointment that apparently has been through half the attorneys in town and the other half know the name and avoid her. After she failed to show for a hearing, the magistrate warned me that failure to appear again would result in a bench warrant, which I knew (and expect). He also told me that she had been represented by six other attorneys in the past, including one current magistrate. I said “basically I was the last person on the list who was too stupid to say no.” He said “Yup. Have fun,” and laughed. Going through attorneys like kleenex is an immediate red flag for me, and I usually don’t take the case. On the other hand Jon has had some pretty bad representation, so it is hard to tell if he is a problem client, or just really bad at picking attorneys (I suspect it is both).
Missing hairbrushes. Ugh. We only have one girl and we have the same problem. We have designated hairbrush locations but somehow they mysteriously vanish- particularly if we are in a hurry. We have at least 5 and sometimes- we cant find even one. I don’t get it.
Hairbrushes – I came from a large family and my mother took to tying these objects to the hairbrushes so they looked like gas stations restroom keys. I probably had my own hidden brush from the time I was 8. Yes, I took some birthday money, bought a hairbrush and hid it from my brothers. I tell you with 8 kids it’s survival of the fittest.
My sister is a hairdresser so we were never short on any hair item in our house growing up! I do like Kate’s TLC blog. I do wish, however, they would edit out all the mean comments which have nothing to do with hairbrushes!
Erin Kate – I saw something about a mysterious Facebook page between Jon and a girl. I think it’s all fake. Just my opinion. Thanks for sharing that tidbit about “going through attorneys” — I hope Jon finds one that actually cares about Jon and the kids and not whether he/she is on TV or in the press.
I really enjoy Kate’s Blog, too. All my girls are pretty good writers!
So glad Jon isn’t suing for custody. The Mom
I am happy happy to read about Jon and Kate trying to work thru this custody issue. I hope it reaches the co- parent ideal that both felt last May. Can you believe it has been 1 year already? I think the intentions were always there but media attention and some stupidity on some actions of both created the issues. I am thinking the healing is hopefully going to begin for both of them. I have to put my snarky remark in that I have said from the beginning it’s all about the money, and not towards Kate, Jon could have would have come away from this with his reputation intact but he chose to handle it a different way. A lot of Kate’s sadness and anger was from Jon’s transgressions, it is a lot to process for any human being. But again I see Kate as a strong woman who is striving to be the best she can be for herself and her children. It isn’t easy for anyone to go thru a divorce, let alone being in the spotlight, with every action being put out in the public to judge.
On a positive note 🙂 I was the only girl, I had all brothers 🙂 So no one messed with my brush !
Couldn’t find my brush this morning. There is one in every one of our cars, though, for last minute emergencies.
Jon dropped the custody suit? I didn’t trust Jon’s tweets, lol! He changes his mind so often. Hopefully his new lawyer will avoid chewing gum on talk shows, and all will work out fo rthe best.
His new apartment is just minutes from the children’s home. Good news. 🙂
Cute Blog. I have to admit, that while I enjoyed Jon and Kate plus 8, I felt that after the show ended, the Gosselins’ “fifteen minutes” of fame would be over. I have changed my mind, though. Kate seems to be coming into her own. I know it drives her critics crazy, but she is a strong person. Anyone that can put up with the nonsense and scrutiny and keep going is strong. There have been so many theories bandied about, but I’m not sure I’ll ever understand why Kate is such a polarizing figure. Why do some whackadoodles care if she is successful? How does that affect their lives? How would their lives benefit if she fails? The craziest thing of all, is that their hate is a component of what has made her successful. Very bizarre! But I wish her well, and hope she has the last laugh…all the way to the bank.
Hi everyone, great update as always Anya.
I was glad to hear Jon isn’t pursuing custody. After all the hoopla of the last year, he has ended up right back where he was minus his marriage. He’s where he should be. I have been hoping he would move back to be more available to his children. I was so surprised he was willing to do another show w/TLC. I hope that this is the start of a more contented life for him.
Kate’s blog is cute. I like reading the little looks at her life and the kids. I’m always looking for the hair ponies, not the hair brushes. No matter how many I buy, they evaporate in no time.
Wendy, I enjoyed your comment. I agree, Kate is strong. I’m not sure how I would have held up with all the criticism except to focus on my children and a greater goal. She has had a lot to deal with this last year w/the divorce and pap frenzy. I hope easier times are ahead for all of them.
I was happy to hear Jon finally decided to move back closer to the kids. Emergencies can happen. I am sure they love seeing him more often.
I hope Kate does well. She has been through a hard year. So much nastiness wrote about her. If you go to any site you see people who have so much hate for her. It is sad thing.
This is really a nice way for a mom and daughter to spend some time.
The event was The New Balance Girls on the Run 5K in Lancaster, PA. Kate ran this with Cara.
Pam, thanks for the link.
That is great to see. Kate has really expanded her horizons!
This sounds like a great organization. Kate really excells in modeling healthy living for her children.
I really enjoyed Kate’s blog this week, I feel her pain over the missing brushes… I also have a hair pretty(our name for pony’s & clips), a sock and mitt problem. I swear someday’,s I have a wee fairy playing tricks on me. Or maybe, I need a refresher course in organization…I hope Kate shares more tips in the new show.
Momsby,
Did I congratulate you on getting quoted by Newsweek? You’re awesome! Great quote! 🙂
Thank’s Anne 🙂
I too am relieved and happy that Jon has moved closer to the kids. I am a trifle sceptical as to his motives, since experience shows that with Jon, it’s all about the money. He’s down to broke and can’t afford the high living any more. And between Hailey suing him for $200K and his last flame pitching him out for being a lazy bum, he’s going to be hard pressed to find another sugar mama. I think he hopes it’ll be Kate.
But, he will be closer. Maybe he’ll actually be availablae when Kate has to travel. If he is, it’ll be full cicle. He’s right bak where he was when they split, being the at home parent while Kate works, only he’s not married any more and he doesn’t get to share in what she earns. 🙂

Ironic, isn’t it?
“He’s right bak where he was when they split, being the at home parent while Kate works, only he’s not married any more and he doesn’t get to share in what she earns.

I probably shouldn’t say it, but in my opinion, it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving man. You know what they say about being careful what you wish for………he wished for the single life and he got it. He just forgot that if you play you gotta pay. LOL
Oh my, am I full of adages or what???………sorry
Anyway, back to Kate’s blog………..yes I really do love it!!! It sounds just like her….no nonsense, tells it like it is…….but with humor. I really hope she keeps on with it, even after the new shows begin……..although I know she’ll be awfully busy with that and keeping up with the kids.
I thought the same thing when I heard he was suing Kate, man, he’s suing to get right back where he was a year ago and said he couldn’t tolerate, he couldn’t stand staying at home with the kids all the time while Kate went out and made the money.
He want to let on that he can’t get a job because TLC is binding him – pardon, but he had months and months where TLC did not enforce their contract with him and he did nothing but run around with women, party, play the big shot and diss Kate every chance he got. Oh, yea and stand at his fence chumming with the paps and signing autographs.
It’s my feeling that people are upset with what she is doing because she really is being given everything for nothing. She is not talented in any way (acting, writing, dancing, parenting) but TLC just keeps handing her everything. The kids also have outgrown their appeal and watching one family go on a trip a week while so many are struggling to keep a job, their home, clothe their kids, well, it just gets to be very aggravating. They made enough money to support their family very comfortably for many years but she cannot give up the attention.
