Kate Gosselin Tweets and The World Goes Crazy

By IW Team Member 59 Comments

This photo is not the picture Kate tweeted but was purchased from a major stock photo website.
Oh, Lordy Be. Here we go again. Kate Gosselin tweets a picture of a kid wearing her shoes and it’s turned into a three-ring tabloid circus. It’s the second time this week that several media organizations have reported stories on Kate mostly because of the batshit crazy small group of hardcore haters on twitter.

Here is the original tweet. You can click to see the picture.

img.ly/nkOaOh, hafta make u guess who just HAD to try on my heels that I just unpacked from my bag tonight… Starts w an ‘M’! GN

— Kate Gosselin (@Kateplusmy8) September 15, 2012

Earlier this week, Kate participated in a charity auction and the hate tweeters went after the organizers of the auction.  What were they upset about?  I suppose it was because she was there, or maybe just because she exists.  The real reason is they don’t like Kate and instead of ignoring her, they want to see her ruined.  Seems they feel that if they harass anyone connected with Kate she will get fewer offers. However,  this time it worked out great for the organization, as they got TONS of publicity that they probably wouldn’t have gotten.

Kate Gosselin Participates in Charity Auction just isn’t much of a headline.  Kate Gosselin Participates In Charity Auction and Twitter Haters Go Wild is a much better headline.

For those of us who have been keen observers of the Gosselin Saga we have seen this sort of thing before.  Over and over and over again.   Kate can’t tweet a picture of a school lunch without the small bunch of hardcore haters threatening to call CPS over the juice box. I am pretty sure the PA CPS has a whole file of Gosselin Juice Box complaints.

It gets to the point where it’s not about agreeing or disagreeing with her tweeting a picture of a child that shows legs and knees.  It’s more about how much harassment and bullying does one deserve over tweeting an innocent picture of your kid that some folks twist to be something it wasn’t intended to be.

Realistically, even if you feel the picture is exploitive, what good does it do to draw attention to it? When I last checked Google Alerts, the story had been picked up by over 15 media outlets, some of them international. That’s way more coverage than it would have received normally. And the story was not the tweet itself, but the haters’ reaction to it.

Off to run sprints… How abt I tweet a pic of my kids from the knees down inSNEAKERS??!!Would I b bullied for that 2? #seehowsillyuare?

— Kate Gosselin (@Kateplusmy8) September 15, 2012

Now it’s your turn to weigh in. What do you think? Do you think the picture is outrageous so she gets what she gets? Do you think the picture is harmless and it’s much ado about nothing? Or does your opinion fall somewhere in between? Let us know.

Please note any over-the-top comments will be deleted as usual. It’s a game we just aren’t willing to play.

Excellent post!! Thanks to the group of hardcore haters on Twitter, that tweet received more publicity than it would have. Had the haters not gone crazy, I would be willing to bet, none of the tabloids, or any other publication, would have picked it up. This part seems to sum up their intense hatred for Kate “…….just because she exists.”

If you read around, the haters do the same thing everyday, with their same old, same old. At least Kate keeps them off the streets and the back alleys if they are sitting on twitter. Much safer world for all involved. Just another gate for them to talk about.

What folks are forgetting is: THESE ARE “FRIENDS” OF JON GOSSELIN, BY HIS OWN WORDS ON TWITTER IN THE PAST.

One has to wonder why HE won’t ask his “friends” to stop sexualizing his kids with the nasty comments they keep making about his kids?

Things that make you go, “Hmmmm…”

I see nothing wrong with the photo. What is wrong is the haters trying to make it perverted. They have dirty minds. I see they are referring to Kate’s “100,000” followers, but when she does well, in their sick minds, she only has “six”. The others are socks. Should we call them all liars?

Paige: I hope that Kate never leaves Twitter. The haters would like to see her do so; then they could take the credit for it. I would hate to have to be the ones doing the detoxing to the haters when, or, if that ever happens. Their withdrawal pains would not be something that I would want to see or hear.

I like keeping up with Kate and the kids via her Twitter and her website. I do not think that she knew that her website would take so much time to maintain.

Again, I have a daughter and a granddaughter, and I see nothing wrong with the photo. Both have worn my shoes.

Poor Kate: She is so not relevant any more!!! Only 15+ outlets have picked this up so far. Most of the comments have been positive; even from the ones on the fence and some of the haters.

Two positive events in one week. No wonder the haters are spewing their vile.

These are the same people who swear Jon has 50/50 custody and that the kids are going to eventually live with him all the time!

The photo of the shoes was nothing, but it has turned into something because the same few who accuse Kate of everything they can have turned it into something. It’s time for Kate to take legal action against the gang on Twitter. They want more than anything for Kate to leave Twitter. They are the ones who have broken every rule in the book. The whole thing makes me sick.

O,LOL. That’s funny Deb and accurate.

    It was an innocent pic.

Are we supposed to lock our daughters away because their bodies are naturally growing and changing? For some, it can begin early, that doesn’t change the fact that they are still little girls wanting to do little kid things.

I wish the tabs that ran the story on the fashion show and the pic of Mady’s legs, would point out that it’s just that core group of khaters who hang on Kate’s twitter day and night, instead of making it sound like an impromptu group who became outraged.

I find it rather ironic that one of those screaming the loudest is the same woman who ran all over the Internet begging for graphic birth videos to appeal to the birth fetish pervs subscribing to her site. Really? Which is more exploitive? Posting a pic of your kid wearing your heels or birth videos of African genital mutilation victims? That’s one’s a no brainer for me…

Of course the haters are going to make a big deal about this. It’s just too bad that the media doesn’t ignore their craziness. But on the other hand, maybe it will show a few more people just how ridiculous the haters are, and they’ll be taken down a peg or two. I know they’ll never give up completely, but I’m hoping that some talk show like the View or the Talk will address this (the same way it was addressed on one of the shows when Jessica Simpson posted a picture of her baby wearing a bikini) and the women on these shows will tell the haters to get a life and laugh at how ridiculous they are, on national tv. That will make a few hater heads explode!

We’ve seen it coming for a long time, children be damned.
It doesn’t matter how innocent the picture is.
Most of the time I can look at twitter no big deal, the fools are just needing their fix be it attention or the rush they get from belittling and degrading Kate but now they have turned on the kids.
They nasty way PMK talked about the child’s pose made me feel sad and sick to my stomach. Its hard for me to believe they even have daughters of their own.
I don’t believe Kate would have taken the picture of M. and tweeted it without M’s Ok.
I hope my hunch is right and M. enjoys being in the spotlight.

Haters can take any action done by Kate and turn it into a hateful comment. For instance if Kate pets her dog, they might say, Kate has no friends, the only one who can stand to be around her is Shoka and it’s only because he’s afraid she wont feed him otherwise. Or some other ridiculous statement. Sadly because they see Mady as mini Kate she’s getting the heat too. Recently Kate shared a cute little poem she wrote about the hair salon..basically it is wrong for her to enjoy the salon so much. I think it’s sad that the media feeds off of and makes money on the hate. I know one time I felt so bad that her reply to my tweet opened up the hate gates and became the topic of a radar online article. Of course as long as its what people read, they will print it. The fact that they seem so desperate for something to print isn’t all bad because it means she stays relevant

I do however notice that most rationale tweeters and commenters (even on ROL) are more supportive and questioning what the big deal is. This is a normal ‘rite of passion’ for every little girl. They blow it up by fear mongering about pedophiles. So ironic that some of those precious daily tweeters that obsess over Kate’s every mood have also posted their own children’s pictures and broadcast their whereabouts or vacation plans. Wearing Mom’s or G-mom’s heels is a rite of passage for most girls even many of the tomboyish ones. My 4 girls and my niece are very often in either my closet or their Grammy’s and more often than not when we are looking for a particular pair of heels we have to trek out to the playhouse. They actually wear them more than I, so I call sour grapes on all the haters and much ado about nothing.

I only saw a girl trying on her mothers shoes. because that’s all it is, most young girls do. Mady was probably very excited about the pretty shoes. I can’t believe the twitter critics had no consideration for her. The comments made on twitter were over the top & vulgar and if anything attracted a pedo it’d be the vile and constant remarks by the so called child advocates.

IMO, Kate only cried poor when she was poor. If all she charged churches was a VOLUNTARY love offering for the number of people they packed in to see her, the churches got off cheap. All speakers charge fees. The haters can’t seem to grasp that. Kate talked about being poor when she was poor. She talked about the blessing received from the kindness of strangers and from her faith that everything would work out. I’m so sick of hearing that Kate begged and is a grifter. She is no different than any of the other reality TV people who make public experiences. Do the haters think she was supposed to make all appearances for free? I already know the answer to that.

I understand some speakers ask up to 100,000. to make an appearance.
I don’t believe anyone would be inspired to hear anyone crying about how poor they are now.
