Nice that Kate is able to do this event. I’m hoping she’ll be able to turn it into a getaway weekend for herself too.
I love seeing Kate involved in honoring other mothers and its a needed cause for these children and their families.
Toasting to a fab turnout !!!

Oh.. You sound so bitter Kim on this beautiful Sunday.
Your opinion of Kate is yours, mine is mine. We see Kate differently. Neither matter to Kate, her life goes on, her kids thrive.
Just so you know, not everybody sees her in the light you describe or she wouldn’t have been ask to speak, I noticed they didn’t ask you but then I can’t blame them. I see nothing uplifting coming out of you at all.

  3. Deborah says

Seems there’s always those people that some of their prouder moments were when they took a dump in the punch bowl, and happy as a moron to claim it.

Damn Kim, take a frickin breath will you. I can see your blood pressure rising to a dangerous level.

  5. Roozerdo says

I am SURE the event planners are WELL aware of the fact that SOME people dont like Kate. However, they have chosen to invite her because they know there are MORE people that DO and will pay the money to attend just because Kate will be there.

Gee let me guess, a bunch of bitter Betty’s flooding the website of this charity? Predictable and transparent.
    –
So sad that the Kim’s of the world can see past their own bitterness and take a look at the charity being featured. How immature and pathetic is it to claim you no longer support something because of Kate Gosselin. The power they freely give to Kate daily is amazing and they don’t even see it, probably because it’s so much work looking down their own noses all day.

I’m with you Pam, it is WONDERFUL that Kate will be at this event that honors mothers and raises money for such a wonderful cause. I think ALL positive , supportive moms out there recognize what a great event this is and will be supportive of it.
As for the ever present, I hate Kate Gosselins, if shes there I’ll never support your event ever again blah blah blah…. shes a this- shes a that…. go find your own worthy cause to support…a positive one… and devote your bashing time to it instead.
Make the world a better place.

  11. Judy says

    April 29, 2012 at 12:51 pm

As far as being a disgrace to real moms, perhaps the Kims of the world should look in the mirror at their own narcissistic, self-serving selves and ask why they feel the need to try to keep a mother of eight children from progressing in her career and choosing the charities which she wishes to support. How sad that there are those who derive such self-satisfaction out of trying to destroy the life of a mother they do not even know.

  12. snickers says

    April 29, 2012 at 1:05 pm

I’m sure Kim won’t come back and look at the comments here. The Kim’s of the world is what is wrong with society today, the first to bash something, but when push comes to shove, they sit on their azz’s all day doing nothing to help a charity in need. I for one support several local charties, and not always is the speaker of choice agreeable with everyone, but you put that aside and look at the bigger issue here. Making children and other’s Mom’s suffer for a non fans rants is so childish. So here’s my message to Kim, you are a small little person in life, lets see you step and contribute to this worthy cause.

  13. Rosemary says

    April 29, 2012 at 1:09 pm

Kim: Judgmental much? Where is your forgiveness (not that Kate needs it)? I felt so sad for you when reading your post. Why can you not let the past go? We have special blessings classes at our church. These classes are anyone with special needs, but mostly consist of children. I cannot imagine anyone, for any reason, not wanting to support these children. You should put all that negative energy into something positive, and you would feel much better.

  14. Mo says

    April 29, 2012 at 1:36 pm

I hope Kate has a wonderful time and what a great charity for her to be a part of.

Even if you don’t like Kate Gosselin why would someone make the charity lose a donation because of that? That seems selfish to me.

Reminds me of little kids being in a petty fight… “I don’t like you so I’m going to take all my toys home and no one can play with them!”

  15. HB says

    April 29, 2012 at 3:31 pm

#3 is EXACTLY WHY I loathe…yes, I said LOATHE, what the underbelly of the beast that the internet has become. Kate knows…Jon knows…that any one – or more of their 6 – could have possibly been ones that might have been BLESSED to have a camp such as this one! Just how despicable ANY individual could be to send such a comment to a special needs camp…!

  16. Deborah says

    April 29, 2012 at 3:47 pm

My thoughts exactly HB! and to do so with such pride is despicable!

  20. MaryEmDee says

    April 29, 2012 at 5:16 pm

Besides the “Kate lies, blah blah blah,” the “she didn’t put her family first” comment is what gets me. I can’t understand the idea that she should stay with a husband that strays for “the sake of the children.” What reasoning is there to completely and proudly bash any mother?!

We should stand up and support all our imperfect selves on our individual journeys. She is doing what she can and supporting those children in a life they enjoy and thrive. That, in itself, should be commended.

I now would like to point out the punch is of the menu at our next picnic- I definetly don’t want to take the chance. Thanks for the tip Deb. haha

  21. MaryEmDee says

    April 29, 2012 at 5:29 pm

I’m glad Kate is helping raise awareness for this cause! I wish more people would realize what the monies are for than spend time chastising an organization which is doing such great job for mothers and children!

  22. Ann@IW says

    April 29, 2012 at 5:41 pm

I never heard of this organization but I can say from experience that giving children with disabilities access to authentic camp experiences is a wonderful goal. Well done, Kate Gosselin. Well done, Tapas and Top Hats.

  24. Sasha says

    April 29, 2012 at 6:45 pm

BlogHawg, I think you misread my comment. I think many of you are the disrespectful ones. And just so we’re clear; real women don’t act like what? They don’t express their opinions?
Many celebs have their fair share of naysayers, as it is the nature of the beast. Kelly Osborne was bashed for saying she didn’t like Lady Gaga’s dress. Rosanne Barr is bashed for her political beliefs and for comments she made about the Trayvon Martin murder. People lashed out at LeAnne Rimes because she called her step-children her “bonus boys”. And Jon Gosselin is bashed here practically on a daily basis. Again, so what if Kim doesn’t like Kate Gosselin. That doesn’t make her any less of a woman. Your comment is disgusting!!

  25. GeeWhiz says

    April 29, 2012 at 7:08 pm

So happy for Kate. Although I live too far away to attend the event I just made a donation to this wonderful organization.
    .
    BlogHawg your #26, WELL SAID.

  26. Judy says

    April 29, 2012 at 7:12 pm

Sasha, If Kim were a regular part of the IW community and wanted to discuss opposing viewpoints, I feel quite confident that she would have been listened to, but she isn’t a regular part of the IW community. She only stops by when she wants to attack Kate, and indirectly attack those of us who support Kate, and run. She wasn’t interested in discussing, only in attacking. Speaking for myself, I think that is the reason the reaction to her comments were what they were.

  27. Ann@IW says

    April 29, 2012 at 7:24 pm

Sasha, had I seen the comment in question in time it would have been scrubbed because of phrases like “child exploiter”,”walking around looking like a common street walker for money,” or “selfish, rude, greedy, selfserving human being that is a disgrace to real moms.” I was too late. Others had already commented.
    .
What happened to the Mom Pledge? I guess Kim didn’t take it. We can’t force her.

  28. Roozerdo says

    April 29, 2012 at 7:49 pm

#31 Ann, Those are the comments that set me off: “Street Walker, Child Exploiter” They were totally uncalled for. Those are not “I don’t like Kate because…”comments, those are vicious comments that come from someone that despises with contempt.

  29. snickers says

    April 29, 2012 at 7:54 pm

    Sasha,

I agree Kim is entitled to her opinion, but when you take steps to make a Mom of 8 worry about a hate brigade all over you on the internet, it becomes a sick game for Kim. She admitted she already had contacted this organization, leaving her lies and vicious comments on their webpage. I hope if Kim is a Mother, she will re-think her issues with Kate and support this camp for kids who look forward to a special time in their lives.

  30. Deborah says

    April 29, 2012 at 8:18 pm

Since I took the ‘Mom Pledge’ I didn’t comment on the “child exploiter”,”walking around looking like a common street walker for money,” or “selfish, rude, greedy, selfserving human being that is a disgrace to real moms” Part, hard as it was I overlooked it.
I was the pride kim took in sending this comment to the Camp Barnabas website I couldn’t overlook.
Sasha, comments like kims have been plastered on every site that is featuring Kate at an event for years and only someone with a very low IQ wouldn’t have died of boredom by now for posting them over and over.

  31. kimmie says

    April 29, 2012 at 8:30 pm

i don’t think anyone is saying kim can’t have and express an opinion. however i don’t agree that what she wrote was an opinion. instead it was a paragraph made up of only gossipy, back-biting epithets filled with hatred. that does not constitute an opinion. more like hate speech.

  32. Rosemary says

    April 29, 2012 at 8:35 pm

Sasha: No where in Kim’s comments does she state that her words are only her opinion. She states them as fact. I do not think any of those assertions are true or think that Kim or you know for a fact that they are true. However, I support both of you the right to express your opinions, but not to slander or libel Kate and this is my opinion.

  33. Marnie says

    April 29, 2012 at 8:38 pm

Kim is entitled to dislike Kate Gosselin all she likes, but why attempt to bring a charity down to that level? Bragging about leaving a snotty message on their website is disrespectful. What’s your take on the negativity aimed at a charity, for any reason, take Kate Gosselin out of the equation, all sounds a tad ridiculous?
    –
Are you here to defend Kim’s stance or lecture women on what they disagree with?

    Sasha,

You can dislike Kate or Jon, but when you cross a line and post lies and crap on a website, an organization that needs funds to have a summer camp,it’s wrong. Kate was asked to speak, let it go and let these kids have the funds and fun they deserve. I guess you agree attacking incocent children is ok. How sad for America that this is happening.

We have special needs children and adults in my family. Two are Autistic and one had Down Syndrome, she died a couple of years ago at the age of 32. IF those ( or ANY ) organizations that have so graciously helped them over the years had Heidi Montag as their guest speaker, I certainly would not, not support them. Nor would I send them my personal opinion of how much I dislike Heidi Montag and that I think she sets a horrid example to young women.

  45. Lisa says

BlogHawg thank you for the Camp Barnabas link. What an uplifting story, I welled up with tears as I was reading it! I’m thrilled Kate is participating in a fundraiser for such a worthy charity. As a PP mentioned, I’m sure as a nurse, Kate is well aware just how close she came to be the mother of a child(ren) that required the service the camp provides.
I’m also happy to see IW abiding by the Mom Pledge and removing divisive comments, as they’ve caused me to surf away from the page in the past. It was always only one or two posters that were the problem, and while I understood the desire to insure opposing views could be posted, it became tiresome, so I stopped reading and posting here for a while…glad to be back 🙂

  46. Marnie says

    April 30, 2012 at 3:14 pm

Anyone see the reports of Nadya Suleman filing for bankruptcy? That’s how the haters want to see Kate. Sad situation.

  47. snickers says

    April 30, 2012 at 3:25 pm

    Lisa,

Glad your back and hope you enjoy all the other articles here too.

Sad for Nadya, but this will only put a bandaid on her situation.

  48. Judy says

    May 1, 2012 at 7:35 pm

Nadya has also said she will now do porn. She’s planning on starting an empire (of some sort!) She never should have turned down the help that was offered to her at the beginning. She is never going to be able to take care of those children with no assistance.

  49. VickyG says

    May 1, 2012 at 9:56 pm

big big difference between Kate and Nadya. But the haters do seem to want Kate to fail. Fail to provide for her family. Fail at employment, fail at friendships, fail at relationships.
No one can take the fact that Kate is a good mom doing her best as a single mom. She will do what it takes to provide for them, and to be there for them when they are home.
It saddened me tonight where I read a tweet of Kate’s that it was a dream or would be a wonderful thing to be on Sesame Street with the kids. I agree, what a wonderful expeirence it would be for the kids and a good gig! They could do the counting thing with Elmo and the Count Dracula….. But of course there was a hater post to PBS and Sesame Street stating they would boycott the show and all programming and products! First I find that appalling since Kate only mentioned how awesome it would be not that she had the job. But also the idea that Kate would be earning an income bothers people so much. Of course I don’t believe for one minute that this person or others would actually boycott since we all are aware they watched TLC, DWTS to gawk at Kate. Would it make them feel better if Kate was like Nadya and on welfare?
If Kate did go back to nursing these same haters would say how horrible she is to leave the kids with a nanny for so long. 8 kids and 12 hour nursing shifts would not be ideal and the pay would not be enough once she calculates day care…
So bottom line haters will always hate Kate, no matter if she dropped from the media, gave up Twitter, her blog and joined the frumpy moms the haters feel she should emulate.
    Sorry had to vent

Please remember that Camp Barnabas is of a Faith Base. All people have different abilities we NEED to keep God on Our radar! These Children need us and if we have a mom step up to cheerlead them on…let her cheer. It is not easy to have a baby on a vent or in NICU for months. Been there. I know someone who had a physical disability and as a child went to a camp similar to this one. He still has very fond memories of his “camp” days and it was all paid for by the March of Dimes. And we continue to have March of Dimes at the head of our yearly donations because of their work. Camp Barnabas I salute you.

I was excited for Leigh that she got to meet Kate. She is a petite little thing and both are very very pretty ladies. I read that Kate helped raise a good bit of money. Quite a bit more than they raised last year. Which just goes to show you that the haters efforts to put a damper on the fundraiser backed fired on them. (Egg on their faces)

Roozerdo, I did see on Twitter where someone from the organization was saying they raised a good deal more this year. This is a really nice thing for this camp. Glad to hear it!

I don’t know how many people do it but … I have a certain amount that I budget for charity. Whenever I see a charity get the short of a stick I sign on and send money. So I did sign on and send something to the Camp. I guess there are a few folks who do that since I doubt my contribution would be considered a ‘good deal more’.

That is great, MarieS. I am thinking about contributing to this also. Very deserving cause.
