Kate Gosselin: New Blog and Saturday Surprise

By IW Team Member

By Anya

Kate Gosselin has been a very busy woman this week with multiple media appearances and it appears she will be working this weekend too.

Kate’s First Contribution at TLC’s Parentables

Kate has written her first column for TLC’s new parenting blog, Parentables. Entitled “Save the Bugs.” It’s a sweet story about a moth that Alexis saved from certain death. The piece has Kate’s unique voice. Reading it, I realized I missed her blog at TLC. I’m hoping this one will be kept a nicer place to visit. It appears commenting is through Facebook, so that should help a bit (I hope).

Kate’s Taking Twitter Questions Tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. EST!!!

So much for sleeping in (especially if you are on the west coast). Kate has promised a Twitter session from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. this Saturday in which she will try and answer as many questions as possible. Start tweeting your questions at 9:30 a.m. I’m trying to come up with some creative (but not too nosy) questions! If you have any questions and you don’t participate on Twitter, let us know and one of us will tweet it for you.

Obviously, Kate is on an aggressive media push to increase the ratings for “Kate Plus 8.” The ratings were well over a million last week. Hopefully, the trend will continue, but I’m confident wherever the future takes her Kate will work hard and she will have a sizable number of Imperfect Women backing her!

I doubt if I participate in the question and answer session. She pretty much does that already doesn’t she? I asked her the other day if she knew how many shows were scheduled for this summer and she said “lots.” She also said they would continue filming this summer.

I was just reading through the tweets and this is to be part of a show.
    /

@Kateplusmy8 wait, so you’re filming it!! awesome! so if im central time, i should ask you questions at 8:30 am?[:
    /
Kate’s answer was ‘yes and that she’d do as many as she could.’

    /
    Should be fun.

I dont tweet, but you can tell her we love moths and butterflies in our garden here too. Alexis would get our little guys vote here!!

One question I would ask her, “can you give any hints what the family will be doing this year???”

  4. Pam@IW says

    June 10, 2011 at 9:45 pm

Yes, I see that now also, Lily. She will be tweeting and they will film her tweeting and mention the names of the people tweeting. Snickers, maybe it is time for you to get an account. How could they resist answering a question from someone named “snickers.” 😉

    June 10, 2011 at 10:00 pm

Pam, you are up at DARK o’clock anyway! Get in there and ask a question! 🙂 I want to hear the name Pam, Lily, Snickers, PattyPie, Sage, etc. etc. 🙂
    .
Re: Kate’s column – that is why Alexis is my favorite. Can’t help it!

I am scared of moths (AND butterflies – I just can’t deal with the fluttering), but I adore Alexis and that is such a sweet story. I will give it the old college try to get up at 6:30 my time and send Kate a tweet.

  7. Pam@IW says

    June 10, 2011 at 10:29 pm

Yes I do get up at the DARK o’clock hour whether I need to or not. It was ingrained in me at a very early age for “the family business”…(oh no) and I can’t seem to break it now.

I admire you Dark o’clock folks! I’m a night owl & have tried to switch my clock for years. I’ve come to the conclusion I’m just not a morning person & am most productive in the afternoon & evening.

Trying to think of some questions that are not too personal & I’m happy I’m Eastern Time 😉 Good Luck all!

I think the Q&A went well, what do you guy’s think? I saw some really great questions from the people I follow! Wonder how many of her follower’s participated? I hope they tell us just how many questions she received.

I agree. Lots of good questions. It will be fun to see which ones they pick

Kate better stock up with vegan recipes (stricter than vegetarian) recipes. I think it’s inevitable in Alexis’s case & probably Mady’s as well.

  11. Ann@IW says

    June 11, 2011 at 12:07 pm

I saw a lot of good questions too. (I love butterflies and SOME – not all- moths.)

  12. Ann@IW says

    June 11, 2011 at 12:21 pm

Ack! I meant to add that Kate’s answers started a haterfest on Twitter this week. I asked her if she was planning a trip to Bald Head Island and she replied that all the houses were booked and they couldn’t go, and the kids were mad at her for it.
    .
So what’s the big deal? We also get a (much smaller, less private, more cramped) house at the beach every year. We found our traditional house was booked too. We really went back and forth about getting something else. We ARE going- but we are apprehensive because it’s not as nice of a rental and it means other family members had to make other arrangements for their own rental instead of staying with us as usual. I imagine Kate had the same problem, but she didn’t find a place she felt could accommodate her party.
    .
Would that thinking cross a hater’s mind? Or is Kate “lying” because there ARE house available for rent? Or is she not going because TLC refused to pay for it? Haters had scores of tweets discussing her response and the only thing they could prove is that they do, indeed, hate her.

  13. PeggyP says

    June 11, 2011 at 3:04 pm

Ann-I tweeted something to that effect: Kate’s made it clear all along that they have very specific needs re: no. of bedrooms, no. of bathrooms, amount of common space, proximity to beach, security(including some degree of privacy), pool (since small kids like to swim & ocean swimming isn’t always safe for them). I doubt that’s an easy bill to fill. It isn’t just the no. It’s that most of them are children.

It’s when she made a remark about expense being a factor in their dropping gymnastics. The AKOs are still harping about it. Again it never seems to occur to them that it’s a cost benefit ratio analysis factoring in how much it costs, how much the kids are all that interested.

  14. Marnie says

    June 11, 2011 at 3:07 pm

I’m not sure haters think, period. You’d think they’d be happy the G8 weren’t going to Bald Head since all they do there is ‘work’. I missed the twittr Q&A so I did a search for it. Haternation is on over drive. I do like that she addressed the 250k per episode rumor, and it was asked in a not so nice way and Kate replied without name calling and did so respectfully.
    .
They’re up in arms right now because someone asked her if she ever thought of the tornado vitims and she tweeted that she’d like to go and help but doesn’t have the resources. Of course the haters are going wild about this!

She said she didn’t have $s to help all disasters. When did it fall on Kate’s shoulders to save the world?

    June 11, 2011 at 6:02 pm

Does anyone remember who reported the 250K a show?? I think the BKIA will have to back up and write a new article on this. LOL

The ones complaining about Kate and her children doing relief work should just step up and get the job done, don’t you think?? LOL

  18. Hope says

I just hate all of the lies that have been told. She clearly is hated by so many.

  19. Lily@IW says

    June 11, 2011 at 6:12 pm

Snickers, that would be a great idea. They are so closed off in their little hate groups that they have no idea how ridiculous they sound. I remember after the tsunami in Japan, they were saying how dare Kate go to NY. Well, how dare they go on blogging? 🙂 It was tvguide that reported the 250k.

Although it would have been great for Kate and the kids if they were paid $250,000 per epiosode, I was skeptical of this amount since Jon said in his lawsuit against TLC that they made $25,000 when it was a weekly series. Since the TLC contract is confidential I suspected that TV Guide was guessing. The haters prove their ignorance by calling Kate a liar.
    .
Reality stars Brody Jenner and Kristn Cavaleri said their salaries were reported incorrectly. Audrina Patridge tweeted she wished she made the $75,000 amount that was reported.
    .

These haters prove everyday just how sick they are.

For someone who makes as much money as Kate G. there is no reason that she cannot donate to disaster relief. She only needs to choose one organization, such as the Red Cross, and it doesn’t have to be much, even $10 helps. As for not having the resources, well, she has a cell phone- that is all she needs. She is the one who put herself out there for the criticism by crying poor when it comes to donating. She could have found another way to answer that question without divulging personal financial info. And if you think ‘haters’ aren’t helping disaster relief, well I for am active duty military, only enlisted, a single parent putting my kid through college and I volunteer regularly, donate used items to Good Will or Purple Heart, and out of my already thin wallet, find a few dollars to donate. I don’t have the money or the resources, Kate G. does. So go ahead, call me sick. Call me full of hate. I defend your freedom to do so. But don’t say I don’t do my part to help. Don
t make such blatantly bold, false statements. I am sure plenty of us help. There really is no excuse not to.

  22. Pam@IW says

    June 12, 2011 at 6:50 am

Did Kate say she did not donate to charity?. From the tweet posted above she said she doesn’t have resources to help all. She doesn’t need to explain herself and you don’t need to explain yourself either, rainbow.
    .’
Kate was just answering a question.
    .
More importantly who are any of us to question someone if they do or do not donate. I don’t care if Kate does and I don’t care if rainbow does. I only can control one person and that is myself.
    .
I live in a very large city and people are constantly asking for donations. Whether it is in front of the local grocery store and a legitimate organization or a homeless person. There are times when I have just donated and so at times I pass on donating. People seem to judge me by the car I drive and the purchases I may have made when I leave the store. They get angry when you don’t donate….not knowing that quite possibly I just donated my limit for that month.
    .
We really need to quit judging people about things we really don’t know about..
    .
Rainbow, in the same breath I would like to ask that you return the favor to Kate and don’t say she doesn’t do her part. You really have no idea what she donates to and does not.

rainbow, I’ve been OFF Gosselin commenting for weeks for a reason. One being to have to read opinions such as yours. Yes, we ARE a military family as well etc. etc. NEVER EVER would I pick on Kate, nor anyone in public for NOT doing what I believe they should. YOU have no idea what Kate has done in the privacy of her life. It infuriates me to see a Twitter demanding of her, much less reading into her comment that she does not care. (Prayer is powerful!)

FYI – it’s truly SAD & disconcerting to think a women in your position harbors such wasteful energy in condemnation. That’s not the military I know…at Fisher House or Arlington Cemetary – where I donate HOURS of time…we DO, we DON’T point fingers in hate. BUT that’s just me.

I wish you well in your military experience. How refreshing it would be to know a fellow serviceman/woman showed some class in NOT sharing your most unkind assumption & loathing.

    Rainbow,

If you defend our freedom, that means you defend it for everyone and that includes Kate and her children. Shame of you for using the miitary which shoud be the highest respect in our country to fuel a post with hate. I also come from a military family and not once have I heard them complain or ask someone if they donate to charity.

Can’t resist making a comment about Kate clearing up the YEARS of being dissed for ‘selfishly NOT wanting used cribs’ for the 6! She tweeted that all the matching cribs were DONATED. Oh my, so far this Twitter has proven – genius. Having Kate give voice to her followers’ curiosity should quickly put those hating geniuses gnawing their keyboards.

Pattypie…if you are around! Your questions to Kate were terrific! She should hire you as part of her PR team…! HUMOR is the best revenge.
