Imperfect Women knows how much some of you love to discuss politics and the latest current events. We don’t always have the time to do posts on these topics and so we thought we would provide a place each month where you can discuss the national or world political and news climate.
Fell free to post links to articles that you think are of interest and change the topic as you see fit. The floor is yours!
Let me start. How bout that ObamaCare?
Pattypie turns and runs for cover!
How come thosewith exemptions are yelling the loudest for Obamacarw?
What about the cities in CA that are maybe filing for bankrupcy?
Pie…Patty…oh Pattypie! Come out…come out…wherever you are! You must have a recipe for the MESS we’re in?
I still do not understand how it is going to affect me. I know that I have two lab bills that Medicare has refused to pay, therefore, my supplement will not pay. This is the first year that Medicare has refused to pay for some of my doctor ordered lab (blood) test.
Good strategy, Pattypie!
Stu – what exemptions are you talking about?
HB- LordyBee – Even I don’t have a recipe for this mess!
Will will point out on this graphic…both Democrat and Republican are the exact same font size..
just sayin’
Well they have gone bankrupt such as San Bernardino, Stockton and Mammoth Lakes. But our moon bean Gov. is still going to build the Bullet Train. A total waste of Taxpayer money and might I add money we don’t have.
Rosemary,
As we get closer to 2014 as someone on Medicare you will feel the effects of the Healthcare Bill even more. Here are some of the reasons:
•More than half the costs of the reform will be paid for by reduced spending
on the elderly and disabled on Medicare.
… •There will be new taxes on drugs and on such medical devices as wheelchairs, crutches, pacemakers, artificial joints, etc.
•A 40% tax on the extra coverage provided by expensive “Cadillac” plans
will apply to about one-third of all private health insurance in 2019, and it will eventually reach every health plan.
•Scores of other items will be taxed, ranging from tanning salons to the sale of
your home, in some cases.
Since over half a billion was taken from Medicare to fund the Bill, less and less will be paid for and more charges will be questioned. Seniors will be the group hurt the most because the reimbursement to Doctors for Medicare Patients will be so small that many Doctors will opt out of treating Seniors because they will lose money every time the do. This is truly a shame for the Country.
Pattypie,
The exceptionsthat Stu is talking about are waivers given as “favors” to the President’s supporters to opt out of the Bill. They are mostly Unions and are exempt from participating!
New data show nearly 1,400 insurers, employers, unions and other organizations thus far have received waivers from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) from a requirement that forces group health plans to offer at least $750,000 in payouts per enrollee this year, a figure set to rise even higher until its phase-out in 2014. The situation is emerging as a lesson in how government, once enlarged, becomes a favor factory. And unions are receiving lots of favors.
This is really disgusting!
Patty Pie- shame, shame. LOL.
HB,
One solution, vote O out! Romney says if he is voted in, the first day he will repeal Obama care.
I wonder who is paying for all those terribe shootings they have having in Obama’s home state?
The only way is to vote him out. By the way see the new ad challenging O’s looseness with telling the truth??
Holly: Unfortunately, some doctors in my area are not taking Medicare patients or have limited the number that they will take. On my family doctor’s website, it states, no new Medicare patients are being accepted. I guess I was lucky that I got in before that decision was made.
Rosemary
It’s just not in your area it’s all over the Country.
I have posted my personal take on Obamacare ad nauseum. I’ll just say that as a veteren, who has paid dearly in time & w. each government check (the max) – for medical care, it didn’t take 2 wks. before tasting what lies ahead…for us. As I type, the ‘death panel’ is deciding the fate of my husband. We all have skin in this game, & speaking for myself…we have lived healthy lives w. NOTHING MAJOR in our medical files for over 50 yrs. in the military community…until this last month. Our Commander in Chief had the Pentagon on notice…once the Supreme Court gave the go-ahead, veterens no longer have access to military hospitals…we are given ‘chits’. Small military clinics in the DC area…closed. We have received 2 forms from CANADA offering drug discounts for veterens…& I could go on.
I am, needless to say, stressed & angry. NOT a good combination. IF the general public only KNEW just how much it is costing this country to implement the repeal of ‘don’t ask…don’t tell’, you’d understand why veterens are being thrown under that proverbial bus. The military is STILL trying to catch up w. the ‘even playing field’ for women in combat! While I’ve never had a problem w. ‘equality’…it never fails to amaze me that every Democrat who occupies 1600 PA Ave. looks to the military as their social petri dish. WE DON’T HAVE A SAY…that’s why! To think our 1st Lady & Dr. Biden are the #1 advocates for the military family? Who are they kidding? Thank God we have Fisher House…& projects for wounded warriors etc. that CIVILIANS sponsor.
Oh, HB. I can feel your frustration jumping off the screen. I’m really sorry you are dealing with this.
HB: I know exactly what you are talking about. I lived most of my life near Fort Bragg. My second husband was a Navy retiree. We received no services from Fort Bragg except Meds. No room for dependents at all. My sister was married to a career Army man. He was treated at Womack Hospital and died there of a heart attack that should have been prevented. He was not monitored. My sister, as his widow and dependent had to be treated off base when she became very ill from a stroke and later died from blood clots in her lungs. I complained to some of the military doctors when my brother in law was at Womack about his lack of treatment. They said that I was seeing the American version of socialized medicine. My sister hired a lawyer and an expert to over his medical records. Let’s just say; it is very hard and expensive to sue the military.
What? No one wants to share about their favorite french fry or french fry topping? Come on, get in the spirit of the holiday, already. 😉

HB,
So sorry to hear that news. I will say a prayer for your families well-being. So sorry you are going through this.
HB
People only see and hear what the Politicians want them to. They dream up what they think it will be in a utopia. The only people who are taken care of are the Politicians and their families.
I am so sorry to hear that HB – it must be very stressful 🙁
My dad was a WW 2 vet (in Canada) and I don’t know if things have changed in recent years but in his case we were really well treated by Veteran’s affairs. They took care of many of the expenses that the universal health care in Canada didn’t take care of, like prescription drugs and travel and accommodation. My Dad had to travel from his small small town to a near by city for his treatment. More than anything he felt appreciated for his service to the country – with how he was treated during his illness.
We don’t do enough for our soldiers and veterans. We just don’t. I’m so sorry, HB that you are going thru this. Our soldiers and veterans should be our highest priority, IMO. Shame on the powers that be. Shame, shame, shame.
What is “equality” – is it the same as equality? You can’t say you don’t have a problem with it but it’s too expensive to implement. Bigotry is bigotry, and it’s indefensible, for all that it gets defended a lot here and other places.
Nobody wants to talk about Romney’s blatant lying re Bain Capital?
We could talk about the (alleged) death threat against Michelle Obama by one of her motorcycle detail. Scary. Sectarian hate has gone way too far.
This is a little older, but how about the bigoted morons in the Lousiana legislature up in arms because they realized that their school-voucher plan for religious schools could be used to fund (gasp!) Muslim schools! They thought that it was only for Christian schools! Because everyone knows that freedom of religion really means freedom of THEIR religion. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of them expected the schools to be all-white, too. I won’t even just blame Republicans because some Democrat mouth-breather was quoted as saying “It’ll be the Church of Scientology next year.” Yes, you racist dumbass, a thousand+ year old religion is exactly the same thing as a 60 year old one. Though halfwit Republican Valarie Hodges deserves special notice for claiming that a “thousand” Muslim schools had sprung up recently in Louisiana. I guess I shouldn’t be too hard on her – she’s probably only off by about 990 or so.
I swear, stupid and bigoted is an infuriating combination, even more so when the stupid bigots are in positions of power.
Don’t mince words Jeannie…tell us how you really feel! But I do feel you have outlined why politicians need to tell a few white lies. No one will ever get elected by saying “I am Stupid and bigoted …vote for me” 🙂
I think I am going to head back over to snicker’s garden – american politic discussions are too scary to for this canuck!
Sorry Jennie. There is NO meeting of minds. It is IMPOSSIBLE to have a conversation w. someone who refuses to recognize that those who serve/ed this country also have a voice. The FACT that gays, transgender, & females have been given carte blanche w. the brush of a pen…has overwhelmed our country’s defense $$$, is an undeniable TRUTH. As of 13 July 2012…we, as a country, do NOT have the financial resources to address the needs of ALL. PERIOD.
I don’t quote articles, but real life. I REGRET that I shared what indeed has been & IS our life. I don’t ask for pity, but do want to make a point…Rosemary is correct. What healthcare the military gets is SOCIALIZED medicine. Has been & will be what Obamacare has in store for YOU! I will also add…we NEVER thought what was promised, was what we could count on. Stage 4 cancer need not be a death knell…not for my husband. (Our gift to our children was college – loan free. Just as our old age needs are OURS to take care of. With or without the help of promises NOT KEPT!)
Jennie…listening to you is the drip – drip of someone who refuses to stray from the uber LIBERAL mantra. Who in this country gives a rip about Bain & Romney’s earned wealth, when NO ONE seems to give a damn what OBAMA does with OUR money? The desperation is…laughable. Bain Capital – in a very BLUE enviorns, made their statement. Romney had NOTHING to do w. the decisions of their company as of 1999! So Romney is a ‘felon’? What is Tim Geithner?
HB,
I truly feel so bad for your situation. It’s just not right.
I’m with Stu HB – your situation just isn’t right. 🙁 I am so sorry you and your family is having to go through this.
I don’t know if it’s your thing but maybe it’s time to get the media involved?
HB: I have so much empathy for your situation. I will keep your hubby, your family and you in my prayers.
Hi Jennie,
Let’s talk about those nasty rich people(ie,Republicans), and how they should pay their fair share. Let’s talk about how the rich Democrats pay their fair share. Oh wait a minute, the don’t. They get pardoned by President Clinton (Marc Rich), then they renounce their American citizenship so they won’t have to pay taxes (Denise Rich). Why does Nancy Pelosi have millions in off shore investments? Yes taxing the wealthy will make all our problems go away.
Even Corey Booker said that the Bain Capital story is not noteworthy. I don’t know how much Bain Capital outsourced or how involved Mitt Romney was. I do know that a lot of our stimulus money has been sent to other countries and has been invested in supporters of the President. Supporters, whose “green” companies are now bankrupt.
I am tired of both sides slinging mud. I would like some concrete answers as to how either candidate would start to move this country in the right direction. I feel like we are watching the WWF instead of a presidential election. I have the misfortune to live in a swing state. We are being bombarded and November is nowhere in sight.
Wendy I have to agree, with you, unfortunately Obama can’t run on his record so I’m afraid mud slinging is all he’s got.
Obama has done exactly as he said he would…..to fundamentally change America. He is doing that.
Can you believe he is trying to push the point that if you created a small business it wasn’t really you who created it it was “all of us”.
Nothing that man says surprises me.
How about his gutting the welfare reform the other day? Clinton’s reform of 1996, done away with in the stroke of a pen.
It’s his voting block. He caters to the lowest denominator. I read a great quote from M. Malkin today she said “Romney voters sign the front of paychecks and Obama’s sign the back.”
HB, I’m so sorry that you and your husband are going through such a difficult and serious medical situation, which is being compounded by the broken promises made to your husband by his country.
.
It is appalling that the promises which were made to those that chose to serve their country and make sacrifices that few of us will ever know, are not being honored by our current administration.
.
Meanwhile, retired federal employees that have spent their career in the safety and comfort of an air conditioned office and perhaps faced the horror of an inconvenient commute, have no difficulty receiving the finest health care their cadillac insurance plans can afford.
.
There are some that simply don’t realize or understand your husband earned his medical care!
Seems like people are so worried about school vouchers. LOL. Without an economy, that will be on the long list of nothings. Bain?? Again, spin from the dems, Bain could put funds anywhere they liked, Romney wasn’t even there at the time.
Healthcare?? Don’t get me started. Obamacare will be repealed.
HB, another promise broken to out men and women who have served our country proudly. I say let you fight for yourself then to fend off the bad guys like the old days. I bet we would certainly hear a different tune! I am in a swing state and Obama is getting big boos from us!
One more thing—small business, just shut your door, you didn’t earn it by yourself. OMG, this Potus is just plain crazy. I am a business owner, worked for sun up to sun down, took out loans, paid them back, hired help, produced a product that the general public wanted and needed. If i failed, I took the lumps. He insulted every small business owner in America. He should be ashamed of himself.
Snickers,
Your comment:

I just had my eye’s opened in the comparison to the myth that Conservatives have more money to spend than the poor Democrats. Read David Horowitz new book The New Leviathan: How the Left-Wing Money-Machine Shapes American Politics and Threatens America’s Future
I was blown away. The Koch Brothers are poor players in this market.
Pretty Funny….
http://pjmedia.com/instapundit/146949/
We’ve all heard that ‘fat cat’ Republicans like the Koch brothers are changing hearts and minds with their deep pockets. Here’s a SHOCKER! The left out spends the right 10 to 1 between elections, with foundations that shape their agenda, permeate society and deeply influence Washington.
This is so vital to understand that we have made this Pragertopia hour available free. Please share it. (Source: The New Leviathan, David Horowitz) Jennifer DP FB Team
Stu,
I used to listen to Prager’s “Happiness Hour” regularly on Fridays. I like him. He’s much better than Rush and his show is not all politics all the time.
I never listened to a Pragertopia before.
(I don’t like his male/female hour AT. ALL.)
And I clicked the Instapundit link. I don’t care if Obama’s working on jobs or not. If he is working on it, he’s doing a terrible job. Everyone I know who works for private businesses says the same thing: vote for Romney. Our area is really hurting.
I enjoy Prager also. He’s not as bombastic as others. You should check out Prager University.
So if Jewish Voters don’t agree with Pelosi and Obama they are being exploited? What a patronizing and condescending comment. Absolutely disgusting and the last person I would listen to is Nancy Pelosi!
Nancy Pelosi: Republican Jews Are ‘Being Exploited’
House Minotiry Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told Bloomberg’s Al Hunt in an interview published on Friday that she believes Jewish Republicans are “smart people” but are “being exploited” by Republican leadership.
Holly,
So where are the Dems that are going to call her out for this statement?
Snickers,
I know, if it was a Conservative who said this it would be all over the media and every Jewish Group would be up in arms! Such a double standard it’s ridiculous! Somehow she, Biden, Harry Reid, and all the celebrities get a pass because they know “what’s best for us”! After all she did say the Jewish Republicans are “smart people”! Gee thanks Nancy!
Since there aren’t a ton of comments on this thread, we will make this the July/ August open discussion thread.
Come on Holly, you know that Nancy Pelosi knows what is best for you and knows you can’t think for yourself so she has to think for you. 😉
Well Nancy Pelosi didn’t circumcise me!
Stu,
Maybe you can be thankful for that. 🙂
