The August selection for the “Book Nook” will be the new thriller, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Without giving away any plot details, this book delves into the complex nature of marriage with a murder mystery at the center of the storyline.
This book came highly recommended and I cannot wait to read it. I hope everyone in our unofficial club is as excited to read something that might be very outside their normal interests. I will post my thoughts and review on the book and open it up to discussion close to the end of August. Happy Reading everyone!
About Jodie:
After getting married and having a baby, life took over and I stopped reading for a few years. Now that my daughter is a little older, I have made an effort to get back to my passions, writing and reading books. I have been an avid reader since childhood and my best memories are of hiding under my blanket with a flashlight and a great book. For me, reading a great book isn’t just something to do for an hour or two, it’s something I get lost in. I hope to share my passion for reading all genres of books with you and hope that we can have some great discussions.
I am in!
Yay, I have heard many good things about this book. In fact, a friend just requested this as a birthday present from me.
.
I’m in too!
I’m getting my copy this weekend! I tried to get it from the library but the wait list was huge, over 300 people. I’m looking forward to something different, I normally dont read suspense/thriller style, but this looks great.
I’m in as well! I just got it in E book format. Also, can’t wait to read the other once you suggested on the 50 shades thread. Thanks Jodie!
Two chapters in to Gone Girl and I’m hooked.
I hate Nick Dunne. I’ve never hated a book character more, than I do him.
And that’s all I am going to say.
Can’t wait to start this weekend!
I finished it this weekend. I really hope she writes a 2nd book. I loved it. I can’t wait until we can discuss the details!
How everyone is enjoying their reading! Any suggestions for the September and October books?
oops- *Hope (not how)
I bought it and started the first chapter but I need to get going. I will have to think a little bit about September and October but it would be nice to select them a little ahead of time so people have time to get them.
Mojito has to be the fastest reader I know.
YAy, I’m in!!!
I’ll start reading right away.
I love suspense/thriller.
August 9th is Book Lover’s Day!
I finished the book.
Oh My!!!

You Brat!!!!
And that’s all I’m going to say!
😉
I have a suggestion for next months book. 11/22/63 is written by Stephen King. I just finished it last night and I couldn’t put it down! I am not really a fan of King anymore, but this book was written really well and kept my interest from the first page to the last word. I highly recommend it.
I have to admit, I am having a little bit of a difficult time really getting into this book. I will have the opportunity in the upcoming week to get into it more and finish it since I will have several time periods where there will be nothing for me to do but read.
Adam, I am open to any book. This has motivated me to get back into reading and I appreciate that.
I second Adam’s nomination. 11/22/63 is highly recommended and we know King is an excellent writer. I just finished “Gone Girl.” I thought it was a slow start. I liked the writing and plot, but the characters were not characters I could really care about, at first. It really got good, though, didn’t it? I couldn’t put the book down today. I can’t wait to discuss these characters. And the ending!
Reese Witherspoon is being cast as Amy in the movie adaptation. Good choice.
I’m with you Ann # 18
I am on the wait list at my local library. I am number 1139. Do not give too much away before my number hits.
I’m reading Gone Girl. Just wish I had more time to devote to it. I am definitely drawn to cont, though!
