Recently I was given the opportunity to test some products available from Isaac Mizrahi New York in exchange for an honest review. Because I am a skincare-product junkie, I chose the following:
I was thrilled with the products that I chose. I really like using a daily exfoliating cleanser – it makes my skin feel smoother and look brighter. I do know though, that if you’re exfoliating daily you should choose a gentler exfoliant, and this one fit the bill. The cleanser is thick and pleasant in texture, and the exfoliating grains are small enough that I feel like they’re doing their job but not tearing up my skin.
I’m a bit obsessed with eye products – I’m at the age where bags and lines are definitely a concern, and I’m always on the lookout for products that combat those issues. This product promises that it “lifts and firms, reduces puffiness, diminishes dark circles, brightens, moisturizes, and diminishes the appearance of fine lines.” I would say puffiness is my main enemy, and this cream seemed to work well on that. I also liked the texture, which was smooth and silky – some eye products I’ve tried (primarily the gels) are a bit too sticky and leave unpleasant residue that sometimes ends up getting in my eyes and irritating them. This product went on well and stayed where I put it.
Finally, the moisturizer. Young ladies, if I could give you one piece of advice for your skin (besides: stay out of the sun!), it would be: moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! A moisturizer with SPF is a must, as well (since I know you’re not all going to stay out of the sun, at least not all the time). This moisturizer was very nice; not greasy or too thick – it felt light but gave nice coverage. I would definitely buy it.
What surprised me about the site was how many of their other offerings were affordable; I think of Isaac Mizrahi as a higher-end brand. Sure, the Imogen Satchel in Berry Pink is, at $248, probably more than I’d spend on a purse, but: 1) it’s GORGEOUS (so sue me; I love colorful purses) and 2) it’s not really that unreasonable a price for a well-made handbag.
The site offers shoes (including a bunch of very cute sandals – I’m a sandal girl – for under $100), clothes and accessories. There are even Isaac Mizrahi Band-Aids with hearts on them! They’re so adorable I may have to order some.
And back to the beauty section – in addition to skin care there is a full makeup line. (Have I mentioned that I’m also a makeup addict?) Basically, Isaac Mizrahi offers everything a woman needs to look great from head to toe, all at surprisingly reasonable prices. I will definitely be visiting the site again in the near future!
