I was born in the 50s and raised in the 60s and it was pretty much a given that our parents instilled upon us what a privilege it was to live in the USA. Along with that, we were taught to respect and honor our military and we did. Veteran’s Day was a big day in our community and school was put on hold for a good part of the day so that we could participate in all of the activities honoring the military. That is just something that stays with you forever. My husband and I support the military every month by making a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project. It is a great cause and one that we are proud to be able to do our small part in supporting. We recently learned of another program that we are happy to be able to contribute to…Marie Calender’s Comforts from Home Project.
The holidays are a time when we make great memories by connecting with family and friends through sharing great meals and exchanging cards and special gifts in the comfort of our homes. We all enjoy the comforts of home but no one deserves it more than the brave men and women of the U.S. military. This fall, Marie Callender’s announced the return of the Comforts from Home Project. This project is a partnership between Marie Callender’s and the United Service Organizations (USO) that’s dedicated to bringing the heartwarming feelings, flavors, and favorites of home to those who miss it most.
Participating in the Comforts from Home Project really is a no-brainer. We all have those nights when making a meal from scratch is just not even in the realm of possibility with the type of day that we are experiencing. Those are the nights we reach for Marie Calender’s! Marie Callender’s creates the absolutely best homemade meals and desserts and my family really enjoys them all. They are made with high-quality ingredients and signature special touches that your family will enjoy savoring together.
The one thing you need to make sure you do is to purchase the specially marked packages with the distinctive American flag and USO logo on the front of the box. These specially marked packages have a code on the back that you enter HERE on this website into the box that says Enter Code Here. Marie Callender’s will make a $.50 donation to the USO Operation Celebration program for each code entered, up to $300,000. Last year, Marie Callender’s donated $250,000 to the USO2GO program that benefited our wonderful servicemen and women stationed overseas.
The USO Operation Celebration program is very deserving of these donations. They are dedicated to providing a “home away from home” for our deployed troops stationed around the world to make sure every holiday, small or large, is celebrated. Through this program, our troops have a place to celebrate the holidays in comfort. USO Operation Celebration brings the comforts of home to the troops. Those comforts include seasonal meals, company, entertainment and a chance to relax away from the stress of active service.
From now through January 29, 2016, you can help give to the USO Operation Celebration program by entering the on-pack code from one of the more than 51 million specially-marked Marie Callender’s frozen meals or desserts. You can find a list of participating Marie Callender’s products and see how many codes have been entered to date with the real-time code tracker at the Comforts From Home website.
Whether it is lasagna, a beef pot pie, an apple pie or one of their many other tasty meals or desserts, Marie Callender’s delivers an awesome meal every time. Combine that with the opportunity to support our troops and everybody is a winner!
For every entry by 1/29/2016 of an 8-digit code found on participating products, Marie Callender’s will donate $.50 to the USO Operation Celebration program. Guaranteed minimum donation: $100,000. Maximum donation: $300,000. Limit 5 code entries per person/computer each day. Valid in U.S. Only.
