Falling Into You by Jasinda Wilder

By Jen

“Oh god, oh god, ohmigod.” Fair warning, this book might cause your reading device to malfunction, heat up, smoke, and/or melt. I am not responsible for any damages incurred. Yes, it’s hot! Smokin’ hot. Falling Into You has everything needed for a superb reading experience:

Solid characters that suck you in and make you care? Check.

Just dirty enough to make you want more? Check check.

Will it make you “ugly cry?”  CHECK CHECK CHECK!

The story starts off with Nell and Kyle; born just days apart and best friends since they were babies. Their families are close friends and neighbors. Shortly after turning the all-important age of 16, Nell and Kyle realize that they aren’t just BFF’s but there is more between them. Young love is delicate and scary, but they try to figure it out. Fast forward 2 years later, the story takes a dramatic turn. What happens to Nell and Kyle is beyond anything I could imagine. That moment forever changes their relationship. Nell is catapulted into a misery I hope I never experience. Cue the “ugly cry.” If you don’t know what I’m talking about, ugly crying is that special kind of cry that you don’t want anyone else to see. It leaves you with snot pouring from your nose, your eyes unable to stop the tears from flowing down your face, and red blotchy marks covering your cheeks. Yes, I am admitting that I “ugly cried.”

Another 2 years passes, and now we are a part of Nell and Colton’s life. Who is Colton, you ask? Colton is Kyle’s older brother. How did we go from Kyle to Colton? I’m not going to give that away, but let me tell you that Nell and Colton have a chemistry that is off the charts! I’m surprised they don’t spontaneously combust when they are near each other. I was practically in flames just reading about them. Chemistry aside, things aren’t easy for Colton and Nell. The past dictates how they deal with their current relationship. Colton knows that Nell has deep seeded guilt that has never been dealt with. He does his best to help her work through it and find peace. Nell is seriously in need of some therapy, in my opinion. Her guilt and torment jumps off the page, grips your heart and squeezes it tight. Colton comes across as a badass but he’s so much more than that. He’s artistic, smart and kind. He writes song lyrics that melt your heart. His ultimate goal is to take care of Nell in every way possible.

And then we get the WHAMO. You know that moment when you’re so caught up in a story, and then something happens and it makes you say to yourself, “What the frick just happened?” That whamo gave me goose bumps and made my heart feel like it wanted to jump out of my chest. I felt a little sick to my stomach and had to put the book down because I just couldn’t handle the torment of what was happening to Nell. I wanted to reach inside the page and pull her out and fix her.

I wish I was the kind of reviewer who spoils the ending of a book in a review, but I am not. Let me just say that I thought the ending was perfection. It wasn’t your typical “everything is perfect” ending but it brought me some peace with Nell, Kyle and Colton’s story. I’m not the only fan of this book. At the time of writing this review, Falling Into You has 193 *5* star reviews and has only been on the market for 8 days.

Pam, the “Oh god” quote shows up a few times throughout the book. And it’s a fitting quote!

Snickers, there’s another book out there that gave me my first ugly cry. If you want to know about it, email me. jen@imperfectwomen.com

I agree, Shawn, there aren’t enough hours in the day. There are so many great reads out there. I dream of taking a vacation just to read. Never quite works out that way though!
    .
Mo, you really have the knack for revealing just enough about a book’s plot line to draw you in, but leaving the spoilers out. Nicely done indeed!

Nothings better than a book that get you hooked with great characters and makes you cry. Thanks for the recommendation!

Thank you ladies. I enjoy getting swept away into a great story. I’ve learned to live on about 5-6 hours of sleep so I can fit more reading time into my day.

Anya, thanks for the compliment! I strive not to spoil anything for anyone else. It ruins all the fun!

I just finished a book yesterday that knocked my dang socks off. Stayed tuned for my review of it! 🙂

    Jen,
You have inspired me to download new books, I will never be able to keep up with you, but do enjoy your reviews. You realy should work in a library, your writing would be so entertaining for children to hear! (The childrens books) LOL.

Snickers, I’m way too loud to work in a library! LOL

The best thing about the Kindle is that you can save them for forever. I have so many that I’ve bought because they were free and I haven’t read them yet.
