Last Wednesday George Lopez (Lopez Tonight) gave Kirstie Alley much more grief than he ever gave Kate Gosselin for their performances on DWTS. Lopez stated ” She did a nice job, her little hooves tapping away. She went to the market, and then she had roast beef, and this is her going all the way home!” He then ran a GEICO ad footage of a squealing piglet.
Lopez and Alley both then took to the Twitter waves with Alley responding to Lopez’s remarks made on his show with “Don’t worry about George’s comments, Just remember what happens to the big bad, drunk woolf …falls in a boiling pot of vodka. Piggy laughs.” Apparently Lopez felt bad and tweeted an apology “I misjudged the joke. No malice was intended and I apologize to Kirstie.”
At first Alley wasn’t buying it and tweeted back, “@georgelopez I don’t need or want ur apology…I want your kidney dude..on behalf of ur X and all the women uv insulted…give it back.” On Friday night Kirstie had a change of heart and tweeted “In fairness.. Mr. Lopez sent me a HUGE Slew of flowers today… I formally accept your flowers and your regards…heres yur kidney back..;).” She also tweeted: “Oh hell, we all F up…. So forgiveness is divine… Thank God 99% of the people I know have forgiven me.. And The 1% are pricks…”
I think that George Lopez is doing exactly what he needs to do to bring ratings to his show.
Moving on…Reese Witherspoon, 35, and entertainment agent, Jim Toth, 40, tied the knot on Saturday evening in front of 100 guests. E News! reported that guest attending the wedding at Witherspoon’s ranch in Ojai were Renée Zellwegger, Gwyneth Paltrow and hubby Chris Martin, Sacha Baron Cohen, Alyssa Milano, Salma Hayek, Robert Downey Jr. with wife Susan, and Tobey Maguire. Congratulations to the couple!
A series of contractions sent Mariah Carey to the hospital this weekend but it was a false alarm and she was sent home. She is due to deliver twins within the next two weeks. To keep her spirits up she went home and decorated her very pregnant belly and posted the picture on her twitter page. Maybe she is hoping the little ones will be artists one day?
Prince William’s bachelor party was this past weekend and it appears no one is dishing details. Reportedly Prince Harry was planning quite an affair but the press got wind and it was toned down to a simple party at a friend’s estate that wound up only costing $4,000. The royal wedding will take place on April 29th. Is anyone planning on watching?
Billy Ray Cyrus was seen with his wife Tish and daughters Miley and Noah having coffee in Toluca Lake, California over the weekend. Earlier this month he announced that he and his wife were calling off their divorce. Last week on GMA, Billy recanted recent remarks he made in GQ. Good luck to this family!
I am not really a fan of Lopez or his brand of comedy, but I don’t think his intention is to hurt feelings. He is a comedian. Kirsty should just ignore the chatter and concentrate on her dancing — which is surprisingly good.
.
I think Reese and her new husband are adorable. She appears so level-headed and grounded. I wish them all the best.
.
Just wanted to say I like the celebrity stories you chose to highlight. All generally positive and upbeat. A welcome change from many of the gossip sites.
People in glass houses, George…(I’m sorry, the man cheated on the wife who gave him HER KIDNEY – he is such a creep.)
I am happy for Reese – I like her and her new husband seems like a good guy. I wonder if she’ll have more kids?
I’m strangely excited about the imminent arrival of the Carey/Cannon twins. It’s not like I’m even that big of a fan of Mariah Carey (I do like Nick Cannon, but I don’t feel strongly about him, really). It just seems like she’s been pregnant forever and really wanted to be a mother and it’s a nice story.
And that’s why I don’t like George, he’s such a cheap comedian.
I felt so sorry for Georges wife. Attacking women is not flattering, considering one saved his life. Just saying~~~~~~~~.
I have never found George to be funny. I know comedians go over the line…..fine, but he is just not funny. I think going over the line the way he did is disgusting. I have always thougt his show to be a D list show. It’s on at midnight and on TBS. He had Bethenny on tonight and as much as I love her, I couldn’t bring myself to watch. Over him.
I am so happy for Reese! Can’t wait to see photos. Did you guys see the photos of MC’s belly?
I did look at the photos, Mary Rose. I guess she must be having a boy and a girl! I actually thought that was pretty creative and wondered what she would have done if she went into labor right after painting that design. Leave it for the doc to see or try and scrub it off.
If comedians didn’t cross the line a time they probably wouldn’t be famous. I like Kate and even thought it was funny some of the things he said about her.
Anya said..I am not really a fan of Lopez or his brand of comedy, but I don’t think his intention is to hurt feelings. He is a comedian. Kirsty should just ignore the chatter and concentrate on her dancing — which is surprisingly good.
And I agree with that completely.
Comedians don’t hate the people they make fun of, they are just doing their job. If they hated the people they made fun of they would be very hateful people and not funny at all. 😉
just sayin
I am one of those people that believe in two comedic rules: Children of celebrities are off limits and if it is funny tell it. I thought the Lopez lines (I also am not a fan of his) were funny and since Kirstie is a celebrity she has put herself out there and she is fair game. If you don’t want to be talked about stay out of the public eye.
I agree they need to go over the line to be famous. I just don’t think he’s funny. I watched him twice and in both monologues never laughed.
