Entertainment Roundup

  • The 35 year old actress and mother of six, Angelina Jolie, has signed on to be the new face of Louis Vuitton according to E!Online. This global ad campaign will be print only and it is reported the deal is worth nearly $10 million. Jolie is a fan on the famous label and is frequently seen carrying their bags.
  • The Royal Wedding guest list has been revealed and we here at Imperfect Women were dismayed to find out that we were not on it.  Most of us have already had our hats specially crafted and our plane tickets reserved. Apparently we were not the only ones that had their feathers ruffled. Former Labour prime ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown were also left off the guest list and not very happy about it. Celebrity invitees include Sir Elton John, Victoria and David Beckham, singer Joss Stone, actors Rowan Atkinson and Guy Ritchie, socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Australian Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe.
  • Charlie Sheen has been dumped by one of the “goddesses”.  Not only was he dumped but the former goddess, Bree Olson, did so by text. Ouch! A fan asked Sheen during a show in Florida how the goddesses were doing and he replied “Not well, because one left.” Sheen did admit that her goodbye arrived in a text. No word yet on whether he is accepting applications for a replacement goddess but we are wondering if Charlie would consider this a “winning” situation.
  • If you are a fan of The Office, you know that Steve Carell who plays Michael Scott will be leaving at the end of this season. It appeared that Will Ferrell was a shoe in for his replacement but now there is speculation that Jim Carrey might be up for that part. Carrey apparently will be in the season finale and will interview for Michael’s position at the Scranton branch. Who do you want to see replace Steve Carell? Carrey is comedic genius but I am not sure if I could tolerate him on a weekly basis.

This is just a short list of a few things that caught our attention over the weekend. Share you thoughts on these and any other entertainment news you would like to discuss.

I love Angelina Jolie. 10 million dollars is quite a payday. Good for her.
    .
LOL, about being left off the Royal Wedding guest list. I was very surprised that the former PM’s weren’t invited. Seems kind of poor form, but I’m no etiquette expert!
    .
I bet Bree Olsen’s family is breathing a sigh of relief that she is no longer involved in his craziness. We all know Sheen has been using his stand-up gigs to trash Denise Richards, the mother of two of his children. On Friday, he took the opportunity to make fun of Roger Ebert’s cancer. Classy.
    .
I didn’t know that Will Ferrell was actually a possibility to take over on a permanent basis? So far, I’m not sure the writers have a strong handle on the character they have written for him. DeAngelo is just kind of strange. I can only take Carrey in small doses. I think the producers should keep looking…

Sorry Anya, I cannot stand Angelina Jolie. I haven’t started a hate blog about her though, I just don’t watch her. What a novel concept!

I am really surprised that PM Tony Blair wasn’t invited to the wedding. He was always so supportive of Diana.

Does anyone know if the Obamas were invited and if they are going?

Obamas were not invited to the wedding but have been invited for an official state visit on May.

Thanks pattypie. That makes sense. Keeping the focus on the young couple and I imagine security would be a nightmare.

On Friday, he took the opportunity to make fun of Roger Ebert’s cancer.

Oh, ew. Ebert has more dignity in his little pinkie than Sheen has in his entire body.

I’m not a Jim Carrey fan, at all. I’m trying to think…I feel like they’ve had so many folks from The Daily Show stable (well, Carell, Helms…maybe not SO many unless I’m forgetting someone), maybe someone else from TDS would be good. Rob Corddry, but he doesn’t seem like management (even by the low “Michael Scott” standard). Stephen Colbert would be fantastic but I imagine he’s happy with his current gig. Maybe Aasif Mandvi? He’s great on TDS and has that slightly “off” quality that I feel like Carell’s replacement is going to need.

Oh, I just remembered another TDS vet who has been on The Office – Larry Wilmore, who ages ago led the sensitivity training that Michael kept interrupting and trying to take over! I love Larry Wilmore.

I can’t believe they went with Angelina Jolie when it is Jon Gosselin who made Louis Vuitton a household name after revealing his favorite LV shoes were shredded by an intruder (and a rare Ming vase smashed!) j/k
    .
Tony Blair should be upset! Who wouldn’t want Tony Blair at her wedding?
    .
Charlie Sheen? Is he still around?
    .
I will be very disappointed if Will Ferrell is not hired! I like Jim Carey, too, sometimes. I agree that he’d be tough to take on a weekly basis.

    Sage,

I read that Angie has 1 nanny per child. With 5-6 kids?, each child has their own care taker. Boy, the haters sure give this a pass.

    LMAO, Ann!!!
    .
Sage, no love for Angie? Think how fulfilling it would be to run a blog and talk all day long about your distaste for Ms. Jolie! 🙂

Nobody better be dissing St. Angie around me! 🙂

I really hope Jim carry is not the replacement. I am the biggest fan of The Office and do not find Jim funny at all. I have not found Will Ferrell’s character funny. I heard Will Arnett was taken over.

I think Angelina Jolie can rival Kate with the number of haters she has. If only Kate had Brad Pitt to console her! I bet it would make things much easier. lol

I spent part of the weekend watching the very bad Lifetime movie of William and Kate – but I can’t wait to see what her dress looks like!

Did anyone catch Denise Richards on Watch whats happening Live? I really didn’t like her on her reality show, but she was funny on the show, and handled the questions about Charlie quite well. She can totally immediate Ramona Singers’ crazy eyes! She didn’t completely deny she would be a new BH housewive, but did say that she does a supper club with Kyle that Bravo filmed.

Mr. Bean made the invite to the Royal Wedding, and the Obamas didn’t?!?

CJ – many excuses for the O’s not being among the guests, but the whole O family gets 3 days in May w. the Queen at Buckingham Palace. In the past, the wives of our presidents go…too much security involved. I heard a report yesterday from our local reporter in London. She said there were more U.S. reporters there than American tourists among the crowds. ;0)
