DIY Holiday/Party Pom Pom Garland

By Pam@IW

Whether it is the holidays or a special party you are hosting any time of the year, garland makes a very festive and inexpensive way to decorate your home. Pom pom garland is easy to make and requires very few supplies and can easily add just the right touch to brighten up your home or party .

Supplies:

Skein of yarn
Scissors
Needle (I used a doll needle since the opening to thread is large)

Directions:

Find the beginning of your skein of yarn and begin wrapping the yarn around your fingers (I used four fingers, if you want a smaller pom pom use two or three fingers).

I wrapped the yarn around 40 times (the more you wrap, the fuller the pom pom).

Making pom pom garland 3
I cut a small piece of yarn off and tied a double knot in the middle of the wrapped yarn, pulling tight.

Making pom pom garland 4

Use your scissors and cut the loops on each end of the wrap, creating multiple ends of yarn.

You have your pom pom!

Once you have multiple pom poms, thread your needle with a piece of yarn.

Making pom pom garland 7
Stick your needle through the center of your pom pom’s knot and repeat with the rest of your pom poms until you reach your desired length of garland.

Voila! Pom pom garland!

You choose the color of yarn for whatever the season or holiday is you are celebrating. Pom pom garland can brighten up a birthday party or a baby shower too. This is also something simple enough that your kids, depending on their age, can either help you make it, or make it themselves. Think of how much fun they could have decorating their room in the colors of their choice.
