Pack your bikinis and your passports, Kate Gosselin fans! Kate will be hosting a Western Caribbean cruise August 12-19, 2012, and she’s invited her fans to join her.  Kate tweeted,

“Kateplusmy8  Here’s a big announcement that will have an Allure for you and your kids kategosselincruise.com Come hang out! Can’t wait to meet you!”

and,

“Kateplusmy8 I can’t wait to meet you all! Pls don’t miss it! I’m getting all teary eyed hoping2meet so many of u in 1 place!”

Kate tweeted several of her followers personally inviting them to join her on board Royal Caribbean’s cruise ship Allure of the Seas as it visits Haiti, Jamaica, and Mexico this summer.  The itinerary promises exclusive events with Kate including a private welcome cocktail party, personal photo, private brunch, a Q&A session, a shore excursion, personalized gift, and a craft activity.

From watching Kate’s Twitter feed this afternoon, it’s obvious many of her followers would love the chance to meet Kate in person in a beautiful setting. I know Kate invited a few of our readers here. Is anyone planning on signing up for a cruise with Kate this summer?

Kate tweeted Ziggy and invited her and her daughter to cruise. I also saw she tweeted Barb G., Fired Up For Kate, CJ, and more. I have to say, it was very sweet of her to personalize the invites via Twitter. I do hope some of the Kate fans who blog and tweet will be able to join the cruise with her.

I am not really a cruise person and if I did so it would be with family and friends. Cruised to Alaska once and it was a little rough going 0n the outside straight. Plus we had someone die on our ship. Yikes! I loved the trip though and I loved Alaska.

    whatev,

Who said she is making money off her fans? Do you pay a cover charge to nightclub, New Years Eve, etc. Do you tip when you go out for dinner, paperboy, lawncare, or maybe you don’t tip anyone in life, whatev. Please provide proof that her fans are paying her way. Have you cruised? There are major acts on them, do they not get paid??

Cruise lines get complaints everyday. If your name does not appear that you were on some cruise with them, they delete complaints. Silly to e-mail them, they are in the business to sell the cruise, not listensing to whiners. Geesh! Boycott. 15 Khaters e-mailing them with what? They don’t like Kate. I wouldn’t be messing with their business on-line. They have great legal teams that take care of these kind of e-mails.

ok color me confused…why is it that the haters are saying kate is cheating fans b/c of the price of the cruise through alice travel? why do they think kate can allow someone into any of the activities through this package if they just go on the cruise but not with this package?

i would say that the package rates are set by the travel agency and not any person they are associating with the package right?

    i’m confused but then i guess maybe i shouldn’t be seeing as how e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. is kate’s fault…

    Hater complaints:
Kate’s kids won’t get to go…unless she takes them. In that case substitute the exploitation cry.
Kate won’t let Jon have the kids…unless she does. In that case look forward to some tabloid pictures of Jon &Ellen + 8 at a park.
Kate’s fans can’t afford go…except the ones who do. In that case expect to see any cruise-goers on Twitter treated to abuse like mumof9 was when she met Kate at Australia Zoo.

She acts like she just wants to meets her adoring fans yet HER price to go is higher than normal price on that same date/ship. She won’t do anything unless paid. (even her supposed “giving back” she was paid hugely to do) I suspect those fans will be limited to X amount of time that the queen will be available and not as much as they would like or expect. If they get on her nerves she will hide in a closet crying again. How much time did that ‘mum’ really get to spend with Kate when she spent all that money to see her. Seemed she saw the sights alone alot.

So she popped out alot of kids. Others have large families too and they don’t act arrogant. They don’t expect hired help, big trips, police escorts, limos etc. They stay home and raise their kids. Kate acts like she is entitled to celeb status even though she has no talent. Hissy fits on tv are not talent. Babbling on talkish shows about herself “honestly” is not talentish. It is obvious since her fan base has shrunk.

I don’t buy music, movies anymore or things with logos/characters on them (NFL, Disney etc). I got tired of supporting the rich when I don’t make the millions they do. I try to avoid it however I can. I do pay tips btw when I go places but I think those people are really working.

ok this is exactly what i mean! kate doesn’t set the prices. if the celebrity was anyone else the price would be the same. it’s not kate’s *fault*. why blame her?

it also isn’t kate’s fault that some of the fans who would love to meet her can’t afford it. it just isn’t.

and giving back?? really?? going on a cruise is not giving back. giving back is giving back to a place or people who are in need in return for someone having helped you when you were in need…not paying for someone’s vacay.

and speaking of giving back it should be crystal clear to everyone that none of us know what charities if any that kate gives to…nor should we.

whatev are you one of those people who think that if we don’t SEE kate do something then she obviously doesn’t do it?

I have been a Green Bay Packer fan for as long as I can remember. It has brought me great joy and a connection with family members and the community and I have spent a tidy sum of money on tickets, airfare, stock, blankets and sweatshirts and so on. I do this for me or for my family when giving gifts. It has nothing to do with supporting the rich. It is for my pleasure and it gives me great pleasure.
    .
I also understand the amount of hard work and dedication that goes into becoming a professional athlete and I don’t begrudge them the money that they make.
    .
I kind of look at this cruise situation the same way. It is not for me and not something I would spend money on but I would never fault another for making that choice. I am sure that the $600 I spent on a ticket to watch the Packers lose to the Giants in 24 below weather for the chance to make it to the Super Bowl back in 2008 would have some people shaking their heads. And that doesn’t include airfare and motels. But what a fantastic time I had with my family.
    .
Whateva, your take on Kate is not necessarily how others see it. I think it is great that we can all choose to become fans of something or someone that we connect with.

Wow, do some people really live in a closed off world. Guess those yogurt ads that run on TV are free for the “stars” who promote the product. I opened my paper today and lo and behold it was a whole page on a cruise held On Dec 8th with over 2000 people on board. This was a classic cruise, hosted by Turner Classics Movies. It was 4 days and the price was $800.00 to $2500.00 dollars, per person for cabin rooms. They built the program around 4 classics old time stars. Earnest Borgnine, Eva Marie Saint, Tippi Hedren and a director. A 75 year old man from our area went on this cruise and wrote the article. He said he went because he was an old movie buff, the food was excellent, and it was a smaller ship. He said you can fly pretty cheap and had 1 motel room the night before the trip and a couple of meals. All expenses on board were taken care of in his purchase of a middle of the road cabin room. He also stated it was pleasant to be on this cruise, geared to older people, so no worry of small young children running around. He said someone from Europe flew over because of this cruise.

That’s what I don’t get…No matter how many have done the same as Kate, no matter it what it may be, it’s always different rules and wrong for Kate.
I just don’t get the cry the “she’s making $s off her fans.” Isn’t that to be expected? That’s how it works and that’s what fans do. Whether it be like Pam and her Packers, or someone attending a rock concert. I had friends who attended the country fanfest every year. When my boys were at home, I took them to dork events to meet & greet. I don’t know why Kate isn’t allowed to earn the same way as those.
They used to go on about the kids, now they go on about Kate’s fans. As if they need a watchdog group. Good grief, I wish they’d just leave the fans alone.

I do agree that no matter what the Gosspocricy will continue. Its just a game that Kate gets no royalties for LOL. Part of why the price is so high is that it is during peak travel time, yes, the beginning of hurricane season, but the very beginning. Amy Roloff did a cruise that if I remember correctly was more pricy. Haters take the fun conversations people have on Twitter among themselves way too seriously and out of context. I was going ask Santa to give them socks in their stockings so they could stuff a sock in it, but the real people in my life took priority. LOL

I just have to laugh at how silly some of these comments are. Obviously cruise lines do not shut down because it is hurricane season. We book beach vacations every year during hurricane season. One year we did have to cut our vacation short because of a predicted hurricane, but that was one out of about twenty. Hurricanes are predicted well in advance and i am sure proper measures are in place. The things these haters get all worked up about are hilarious. I also have a question., does anyone know if Kate gets anything from the shows airing in different countries.

But why does any of that matter? Either you’re into cruises or you’re not. Either you’re a fan or not. Wy do haters care so much about what people want to spend doing on their vacation time? I don’t understand this. I don’t think Kate Gosselin has ever claimed to have the level of fame of a Tom Hanks. It’s been pointed out that Rosie O’Donnell does cruises. Plenty of other D list celebrities do. Probably C list celebrities and maybe even a few Bs. Why not? There are worse ways to make money.

For each person that goes on the cruise Kate receives a certain amount of money so, of course, Kate wants to invite as many people that she cab. This was posted on the Cruise line information site. People who are planning to Cruise with Kate will pay about seven thousand more for that particular cruise.

If Aaron Rodgers does a cruise …..I will be all over it. Yes I am old enough to be his mother but what a cutey he is. That would be my ideal cruise. Cruise with the Green Bay Packers. As long as the ship does not leave port. I have absolutely no sea legs. I was sick on the Alaska cruise and on every whale watching trip I have taken. Doesn’t matter what medications I take.

7k? I am sorry, but I have a hard time believing that figure. Does anyone have expertise in cruise pricing? That figure seems really OUT there. (Unless Aaron Rodgers is on the cruise that is!) 🙂

Totally agree. I don’t really care if someone attempts to pursue fame with or without any discernable talent…To each his own…I don’t really think it is accurate to call Kate a famewhore anyway. I have always believed she is in it for the $$$ (to provide for her large family) and not the notoriety.

Ok, there is NO difference in price between the week that Kate is on the cruise and the date in August a week later. That price is $999 a day for seven days. So like other folks posting negative messages, Sheila seems to have a problem with reading comprehension. The cost for the cruise is $7000. That is the same price for the same boat for a cruise two weeks later departing on Aug 26.

    Sheila is wrong.

One thing I don’t quite understand is the discussion of it being during Hurricane season. Are there no other cruises going out during Hurricane season? I know Addie made a comment or corrected someone that Hurricane season is from May until November. So do all the cruise lines shut down for those months that cruise in that area? Why only the concern for this one?

Pam, you can go on a cruise year-round. The cruise line lets you know that, in the event of a hurricane, or any other unplanned event, your original itinerary may be altered. Very common.

My point, if you could comprehend it, was that paying ANYTHING to see Kate is ridiculous. She may get a few fans to bump up the overall count on the cruise, but I don’t think the economy is well enough for some fanatics to book a cruise just because Kate will be on it.

I guess the cruise line is banking that Kate’s name and appearance will bring in lots of people because she is on the ship. I honestly don’t see it. In my opinion, her name will not bring what it might have last year or 2 years ago. Sure there are the FANATIC blogs who simply love Kate and try to document every move she makes (just like a few hate blogs) and will claim that they will go on this cruise no matter what and will sell everything if they have to so they can cruise with her. If anything comes of this, it will be a new avenue for the real fanatic haters to hate and the fanatic fans another reason to cry over the Kate they love and “protect her from the haters”.

So they WILL be paying something to be on the ship and if the reason they pay is because Kate is on the ship then they are nuts. Got it?

However, there are private functions with Kate. Not enough details to indicate if these are extra or additional fee’s. So, there may be more expenses involved if you want to see your favorite mom of 8.

To everyone that is not a cruiser from someone that has grandparents that are cruisers.

People that choose a specific cruise do so for the other cruisers. Bridge Cruise, gay men’s cruise, cooking cruise – is that you are sharing with other cruisers with the same passion. They do not choose for any one person on the agenda.

Otherwise cruisers look for an itinerary and price.

Frequent cruisers stay with the same cruise line because the more they cruise the cheaper it is.

Then they look to see what the agenda is for the cruise. So if all things are equal and this ship has Paula Dean – they’ll go with the Paula Dean.

Cruise lines will book at full fare then x weeks out they will upgrade the full fares to better rooms and start discounting the remaining. If you book the week before you get a huge discount and the worst room of the type you’re booking. Now on some ships the worse room is still dang nice it’s just a hike to dinner or the only suite without a full balcony.

IMO, Kate’s not doing it for free. She’s being compensated and the cruise line is hoping to cash in using her name. If she makes herself available for her fans, then more power to her and those fans. I’m sure a great time will be had.

It’s totally different for Jon though because he’s NOT KATE. This cruise is no different than any other celebrity cruises. IN this country, for the time being anyway, we have the freedom to spend our money in any way we choose, whether it’s a bazillion dollars for a cruise with Kate Gosselin, or Paula Deen, or the beloved Green Bay Packers. The people that want to go will go. The people that have the money or can get the money and want to go will do it. It’s none of anyone else’s business or concern. Now surely, there are more important things in a person’s life than being concerned about who goes on this cruise with Kate and how they afford it. MYOB! What has Kate done to you personally? I pick on Jon, he has done nothing to me, he left 8 children for his 20’s and that’s why I don’t care for him. Hate him, NO!! Hurricane season is from June 1-November 1, so the cruise is not at the beginning more towards the middle. Cruise ships are aware of coming hurricanes so they re-route. Good idea to get the insurance.
My feeling on only the twins going if that is the fact! The little ones get sea sick, not a good idea to have them onboard if that is the case! It’s really not my business to question her decisions on who she brings and not bring.
It’s also not like the entire passenger list is there for Kate. The difference in price is those that pay for Kate’s package, are getting more perks than those who paid the common price. It’s like if you pay for the soda or liquor or wine package you get what you want, where if you don’t pay for that in advance you don’t get it or you will pay more if you pay per drink on the ship.
I would love to go but already have 2 trips planned this summer.

Kate’s the “crazy” one? Kate’s a “mess?” I’ve read your comment, and I have to say that you’re sending out the “crazy” vibe more than I’ve ever seen Kate do. You think Kate won’t go out of her house without security because her FANS get too close? May I suggest that you read your comment if you want to know why Kate needs security. It’s not because of fans, it’s because of angry people who rant about everything she does, instead of just living their lives and not getting so agitated over any little thing that Kate Gosselin does. You sure could give Kate some lessons in RAGING. How’s that working for YOU? I can imagine what your BP must be, just from reading your angry rant.

The best thing about cruising is its a true vacation. You never lift a finger. All your meals are prepared for you, you never clean up a thing, your room is taken care of for you – you just relax and enjoy the activities. You get to get off and explore a few different islands, shop, snorkel, take an excursion. Its all good. Certainly no reason for any to be angry about it. Its not being forced on anyone. Its not a sheeple requirement, pay up or be tossed from the club!
Private party participants do pay more per ticket, they also get more. Its all a matter of what ever floats your boat…or cruise ship.

As someone who may have been personally invited by ‘a little bird’ to go on this cruise, these are my feelings about it. My DH and I went on a honeymoon cruise almost 20 years ago and had a blast. It was just a weekend cruise but we loved it! Have always talked about going on another cruise but kids, life, you know! 🙂 So now this opportunity comes up. When I first heard about it I have to say my first thought wasn’t ‘Ooooo, finally a chance to worship at Kate’s feet in person!!!’ ::rolls eyes:: it was, wow, the kids would have a blast in the amenities for them! DH would be forced to take time off and not keep checking in, and get some well earned relaxation time. Thought about my elderly cat and who would watch her? The Kate stuff? Bonus! 🙂 sure, I’ve wanted to meet her, one mom to another…I’m not positive but there’s a good chance that KG will NOT be spending 100% of her time with fans, LOL, and I’m good with that. 🙂 Anyway, the timing is right before school starts so that’s ideal. DH is a transportation geek and would love exploring the ship to see how it’s put together and how it works. Tweenie would LOVE the pampering, and so would I! 🙂 DH is consulting with the travel agent today, she put together a nice package to me but the king of hagglers needs his turn, LOL. Say a little prayer the logistics work out so we do get to go! 🙂

    #119,

I am really tired of you throwing things out there and accusing me of comments that don’t exist. You can look through all 122 comments, of which I have submitted 20. There is only 1 (ONE) UNO comment that you can consider “putting someone down”, and how funny that comment is aimed at you (#73). I ask you why you are being a smarta$$. You need a thicker skin if you consider that putting someone down. Other than that, I would refer you to my response #117 as I did Gee.

I would like you to copy/post what you consider: “Most of her comments put down people that don’t put down Kate. Only some of them actually put down Kate.”

I have not been mean or vile or stalked or joined twitter and sent hate or even posted hate. I simply have challenged some and their line of thinking on events in a Reality personalities life. This blog owner clearly is open to REAL discussion and debate and free thinking.

    TP –
I never said that you said mean things, stalked etc. I said that put people down and you do. If you don’t realize that then you need to do some self reflection. You pick on people. Come on, own it. You actually defend your right to pick on her devoted fans. Here’s a sample from this thread.

gee, you need to reread the comments
against the grain of her devoted fans
then go after the ones who pick on her devoted fans. Make an example of the people who actually exercise their freedom of speech.
What comment about Jon are you referring to that you are excusing as a JOKE? It’s OK as long as it’s a joke? That is funny. So, if I end my comments with “just kidding” then it’s OK? Please

    Tcparra,
We do welcome debate and real discussion here. It is what we would like to have. That being said, I do think that you poke certain people and blogs and many times it is unrelated to the conversation. I also think you get poked. It becomes a vicious circle.

Marie, clearly you are the one with a reading comprehension problem (as you accused me of remember?). I asked you to copy and paste where I was putting anybody down and you can’t even do that. The examples you provided are a JOKE! Those comments are nothing and no where near putting someone down.

What do I need to do, copy and paste my own comments and ask where in each one I put someone down? Clearly you are “baiting” as some like to call it. Like I said, this is old and ridiculous to wasted time bickering back and forth about something that you are making up or can’t understand.

Here is a simple solution: Ask for support and proof from other fans if you can’t figure it out.

I have slung some mud in response to mud being slung at me. However, in this case I have not done what Marie keeps insisting that I am doing and it’s gets old defending myself where I don’t really need to.

Too bad that no matter what fast food place you visit, fries seem to be where they lag. They can’t serve a simple item hot or fresh (even at Mcy D’s sometimes).

She lived on various cruise ships & when she got bored w. the same trips…she’d switch. Lucky for her, her children/grandchildren lived near Ft. Lauderdale & would either join her for a cruise, &/or she’d book her Dr.’s appointments between cruises. Yes, she claimed for the services rendered, the entertainment available, etc. she is living the life she could never do in a retirement home…for less $$$! ;0)

I think both Jon and Kate are always going to have those type of jokes made about them. Jon is never going to live down his partying and womanizing and Kate is always going to be known for being a shrewish wife. That’s what made them famous, so that’s where the punchline is.

I agree on both points. I’m sure Kate is willing to take the snark for more free publicity. And most of what I have seen is true snark — not what is practiced by the haters. The haters aren’t funny and don’t understand that true snark comes from just not caring too much. The haters care A LOT about Kate. And it shows…

The prices are about $800.00 more than one would pay for the same stateroom at double occupancy, comparing the Alice Travel prices to the ones for the same cruise on the Royal Caribbean site. I booked a stateroom with a single occupancy surcharge. The travel agency has had enough request for that information that they posted single rates for all of the cabins in the package. The base stateroom rate covers, according to Royal Caribbean “Included: Shipboard accommodations, ocean transportation, most meals, some beverages and most onboard entertainment.

Not Included: Air transportation**; transfers**; items of a personal nature, such as shore & land excursions**, specialty restaurant fees, some beverages, photographs, gratuities/service fees, medical services, etc.”

I called early and they seemed very pleased at the level of interest they were getting.

The Allure of the Seas is one of the two ships in Royal Caribbean’s largest class, Oasis (something like 18 decks). As for being suitable for kids, there is an entire kids’zone among the 7 neighborhoods on board with separate activity areas for younger kids and teens. That’s not including the Boardwalk with activities including a carousel and the pool and sports zone. The video tour of the ship is amazing.

I’m not counting on her bringing any of the kids. If she does, cool. If she doesn’t, also cool. I’m sure she’ll do what’s best for the kids.
