Rumors surfaced immediately after her times were posted that she had cheated. These rumors were started by a small group of haters and it was of no surprise to many who follow and support Kate but it did appear to surprise Kate.
When informed by some of her followers on Twitter of the accusations, she replied:
a scooter? no cheating is tolerated.R They Jealous much? Can’t accept I did it– I’m still in shock, and pain!:)
oh my… To be so bored and angry that u have to come up with creative lies… Like I said, first 26.2 was for them… Lol
Some of these obsessed haters took it as far as to make up Facebook accounts and post their conspiracy theories on the Facebook page of Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & 1/2 Marathon

Re: “runner” – Kate Gosselin
Kate didn’t run the race. She was on the sidelines and riding to the checkpoints on someones tomos scooter and at every checkpoint, the announcers gave platitudes to Kate and none of the other runners. It was a paid appearance to garner support for a race and a charity that isn’t a 501c3 organization. Her bodyguard didn’t walk the entire course carrying a pink handbag. He was on a scooter pacing her for 3 miles and then picking her up and pacing the race to keep the shoe tag legit. When they came to a checkpoint at 500 feet, Kate jumped off as the crowd and contestants were too busy to notice. Kate made all the check points. She actually completed the marathon but she didn’t do it toe to heel.
Kate was paid to attend, RnR posted her picture on their facebook page in an attempt to lend some credence to the event however the event was a total cluster fuck. After the event, Kate was walking around away from the contestants and stayed clear of Steve. It was NOT a sanctioned race and it was NOT what Kate will lead you to believe. The entrance fee was paid by an LLC and not connected to her publicist however her publicist was there. her bodyguard paced the entire race on a scooter and was there at many points during the race with Kate at his side while the committed runners made their trek. The marathon was a total scam, Kate paid to attend, barely participated and will use this for media attention.

It is important to note that when you place Ms. Lily Webster’s name in the “results” section of the marathon page, it indicates that she did not run the race. Perhaps she ran it in her mind as she was sitting on her chair typing at her computer.
These rumors then take on a life of their own and are copied and pasted elsewhere on the net and in some people’s minds become fact. Kate Gosselin deserves credit for running this marathon. From everything we have read, this was a very difficult marathon to complete and had many issues and problems.
Imperfect Women wants to give a big shout out to Kate Gosselin and all the runners in the Rock ‘n’ Run Las Vegas Marathon. Job well done!
12/09/11 -Here is an update where a volunteer verifies that Kate Gosselin ran this whole marathon:

I rode with Kate Gosselin which went pretty well. I had a little issue getting into the lot to park but traffic was so bad I just had my wife drive and pulled the bike out and rode into the meeting. I meet Kate and quickly found out that publicity was important, I was asked to ride in a mass of runners at night, text every mile, answer her managers calls and keep her and a friend safe and on time. It was all going good until we hit LVB at mile 13 and got dumped into 10,000 walkers we needed to pass. Once we got to the Fremont street area it was very tight going and I got bumped and fell hard, I dusted off and went on….no injuries. Next year I ride the mountain bike no clips and put heat pads in my shoes. The Madone with clips was hard to handle in the crowd. Most of the riders understood the bikes, but no one would stay in their lane. Few negative comments on the bike in the crowd which I understood. At the end I backed off for the Access Hollywood shots as she crossed the timing gate.
Kate is a tough runner, at mile 9 she broke stride, got rubber legs and I expected her to go down. As I moved in to help her she tried for her Jelly Beans and could not hold them. She then got words of support from her friend and she look up started to kick it and up over the railroad overpass she went. She held a 6 mph pace until about 2 miles out and then they picked it up for the finish. at times I set pace and got them in about a minute slow, thanks to GPS. Bands were super, I may not ride next year and run the 1/2. If I do not run I will be back for more bike support. Massive project, pretty well run. Zappos really stepped up for the event.
