Allof You

Jen received a free copy of All of You by Christina Lee from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed are her own and were not influenced by the method in which she received the book.

It is so refreshing to read something that isn’t cookie cutter or stale! Christina Lee took the normal NA formula, gave it a good shake and created a wonderful story that is chalked full of emotions and angst. Lately I’ve felt bored with some of the stuff I’ve read because it all feels the same. But All of You isn’t generic, it’s unique and entertaining and I really loved the storyline. In 5 words or less, All of You is charming, seductive, warm, witty and original. It’s truly one of my favorite books of 2013.

Watching Avery and Bennett come together was beautiful. They have the same battered souls, just choosing to live their lives differently to cope with shitty mothers and crappy childhoods. Their emotional walls felt true to their traumas which makes it so easy to fall in love with their characters. Too many times authors have created these massive walls to issues they don’t really fit but Avery and Bennett’s walls are perfectly constructed and feel natural. Another thing I loved about All of You was Avery and Bennett didn’t play games. They were straight up with each other which was so refreshing. With no contrived and unnecessary games, it lets the reader really get invested in the characters personalities. And let me tell you, Bennett is a huge character! He’s a hot tattoo artist that just so happens to have saved himself. Yes, you read that right. Hot virgin tattooed boy… I knew I had to read this as soon as I saw it. Just because he’s a virgin doesn’t mean he’s wimpy… oh no, if anything I think it made him more dominant and romantic. This is the kind of guy who knows what he wants, has made his choices and has the willpower to stick to them. His choice to wait means we get a whole lot of sensual foreplay, which rockets this book into another stratosphere. Trust me when I say that Bennett knows how to make a girl feel wanted. Every time Bennett would ask “is this okay?”, I wanted to scream out “YES!!!!!!!!” Too bad he wasn’t asking me.

Avery had no idea what she was in for when she goes after Bennett. He tests her in ways she’s never been tested. But this is good for her. She needs to find someone she can trust and put her faith in. She has some girlfriends that also keep her on her toes. I LOVED the witty banter between the girls. It reminded me of how I interact with my closest friends, insults and teasing constantly. This book really does hit the mark on so many good things. It’s hard not to read it without a huge smile on your face.

Side note: The author, Christina Lee, has a really cool jewelry business, so don’t forget to check out her website!

My rating: 4.5 unique stars!

A man that can show and express his feelings for a woman … someone who does not try to be a macho man…

This is a really hard question! I’d say… passion. Passion for anything! Passion for who he loves, family, religion anything. As long as a man has passion and puts forth effort, good gracious you make me weak!

What makes a man irresistible? Well, I’m older now, so to me it is genuine compassion for people.

In my younger days that is not what I would have answered. 🙂

I love hearing about women who are successful in multiple endeavors, as this author is with her writing and her jewelry! As for your question, I think that a sense of empathy makes a man irresistible. The fact that my husband can relate to anyone and really empathize with whatever they are going through makes him all the more appealing to me. 🙂

Thanks for the review. As to what quality is most important to me, I have to say openness. This encompasses honesty and communication. If I can’t trust my partner or feel as though he is constantly holding back, it makes me feel insecure in our relationship.

There are several, but I really like a man who knows how to make a woman happy and sometimes, all it takes is a smile, a laugh or a certain look – but never a push for something she’s not ready for yet. An irresistible man will know when the time is right, the woman will be his -he just has to be patient.

Hmmmm…. I would have to say a man with a great sense of humor and who is calm and easygoing are qualities I like.
