This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Jen received a free copy of This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed are her own and were not influenced by the method in which she received the book.

Imperfect Women and Forever Yours are proud to bring you October’s installment of Book Crush Monthly! Every month we will bring you a new book review with chances to win eBooks and Paperbacks! 25 winners will be chosen each month. This month our selection is This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas!

I lost track of the thoughts and feelings that went through me while reading this book. This was one of those books where I would get ticked, throw it down and say I wasn’t going to read anymore. But 5 minutes later, my nose is back in my kindle and I’m yelling at the characters. Jesse Ward both excited me and made me want to throttle him! He was domineering, sexy, and erratic. He was almost too extreme for me. Ava couldn’t make a choice and stick with it to save her life. I felt like she was weak and overpowered by Jesse. With that being said, they worked together. Their chemistry explodes off the page from their first encounter, which kept me coming back for more.

Ava and Jesses first meeting was like someone lit a match and blew the roof off the place. She meets Jesse at The Manor, Jesses hotel in the country. Ava is an interior designer and goes to The Manor to do a consult. Her meeting is with the owner, Mr. Jesse Ward. The instant she sees him she can’t think straight and all of her common sense and intelligence goes out the window. From that point on Jesse can’t control himself when he’s around Ava. I don’t know if he is always this cray cray but something about Ava drives him to lose him mind. He becomes domineering and possessive which drives their sexual chemistry.

The Manor isn’t what Ava thinks it is, and how she doesn’t figure it out is beyond me. In her regular life when she’s at work and with her friends, she’s a smart girl. Jesse shows up and her intelligent self takes a hike. Ava knows she’s stuck on stupid when he’s around so to get even she purposely does things that she knows will tick him off; she cusses more, wears revealing clothes, and drinks after he’s told her not to. Have I mentioned that Jesse is controlling? I wanted to tell him to shut his face every time he told Ava to watch her mouth. The last 30% of this book is what saved it for me. Jesse obviously has some serious issues and the cliffhanger ending made me feel some sympathy for him. There are many unanswered questions at the end of this book ensuring that you can’t not read the next one.

My rating: 4 Jesse Ward drives me crazy stars.

I love a book that takes you away and you lose all track of anything around you except what you are reading in the book. I haven’t had that happen to me many times.
You want to know what drives me crazy about the oposite sex… He never picks up after himself… Makes me really crazy.

Sounds like Jesse has some control issues. Having an obstinate character like that really helps to make you love the other characters even more. This sounds like a great read.

Sounds like a good book although Jesse almost sounds like an alpha male from the sound of it. I’m not a big fan of cliffhangers though but I so want to read this book. Here’s hoping I win one. 🙂

This book sounds amazing! I guess I would have to say that the thing that drives me crazy would be when they think they know everything and refuse to admit when they really know nothing. lol 🙂

This is a great give away! This is a fabulous book, let alone the series will blow you away. I have read the Fifty Shades trilogy and I’ve read all of the Crossfire books to date and honestly, I believe This Man blows them all away. Jesse is such a dominating, passionate character that you can’t help but fall head over heals in love with. Ava is a young, strong and determined women & the two of them make for a story that you will not be able to put down.

I have been in a relationship where I was not allowed to be me. It was like martial law in the house. He was a gorgeous hunk of a man but he was too much work for me. Got rid of him 8 years ago. If I start reading this series, I hope it does not take me back to the bad bad time in my life.

  66. Corinne says

LOL–I’m almost afraid to start this one since it sounds like I will spend a lot of time being angry and frustrated. It’s kind of how I feel about watching Homeland. I get so mad at things that happen on the show but keep coming back to see what will happen. I guess I am a glutton for punishment, so I am sure this book will find its way onto my reading list.

What drives me crazy about the opposite sex is a man’s inability, at times, to talk about emotions stuff. My hubby can do it but after he’s tried to make light of it by joking around and then I have to tell him to turn it off. Still frustrates me that I have to TELL him…sigh…
