Imperfect Women and Forever Yours are proud to bring you our first installment of Book Crush Monthly! Every month we will bring you a new book review with chances to win ebooks and paper copies! 25 winners will be chosen each month. Letβs get started with our first review. Introducing Elite by Rachel Van Dyken!
Jen received a free copy of Elite by Rachel Van Dyken. The opinions expressed are her own and were not influenced by the method in which she received the book.
How much torture should one girl have to put up with? Elite is definitely NOT your typical romance novel. If you like dark and gritty with some steamy make out scenes this book is for you. I found my heart racing not only from the make out scenes but also from violence! I wasnβt expecting that but I liked the originality of it. I liked Elite because it wasnβt the typical boy-meets-girl-falls-in-love-happy-ending type of book. I was actually a bit scared for the characters at times.
Trace (Tracey) hit the proverbial lottery when she won the only slot to attend the Eagle Elite College. All she wanted to do was make her grandmother happy and get her college education. She is your typical good girl from a farm in Wyoming; unassuming and naive. What she gets on day 1 at her new school is a swift slap upside the head from the mean boys.
Nixon leads the charge against the new girl. He is the bad boy leader and, man, he is a piece of work. I canβt tell you how many times I wanted to smack that guy upside his egotistical head! The things he did to Trace made me sick. And how his friends followed him made me even sicker. Nothing ticks me off more than when Iβm hating on a character and then they do something to redeem themselves. Nixon was no exception. I went from wanting to throttle him to feeling sympathetic towards him. UGH.
His buddy Chase is also a douche to start off with. He quickly got on my good side when he chose to do the right thing by Trace instead of following Nixon. So I told you that this isnβt your typical romance novel – and it isnβt. Normally, this is the part where the boy realizes he loves the girl and then does everything in his power to get her to forgive him for being such a jerk. That doesnβt happen here. This is the part where the story takes its dark, violent turn. This is where I really got sucked into the story. Things arenβt what they seem at Eagle Elite. Trace has no idea what is coming for her. And Nixon canβt stop it.
Iβm not sure when the 2nd book comes out but you can bet your sweet rear end that I will be 1-clicking that bad boy to see what happens with Trace, Nixon and Chase.
My review: 4 heart-racing stars!

I’m a book reviewer so it would not be fair of me to answer this question. I average one book every one to two days… if not more than one book π
My favorite so far this month… ummm… I can’t say that! Did I mention I review books? lol I couldn’t do that to my authors!
I can not keep up with Jen and I could not do one to two books a month…I just can’t read that fast, but I am currently reading Hapless by Colleen Hoover…
Jen…this book sounds like a real page turner. I just finished reading the Sunday Paper! π
Another great review, Jen and another book to add to my TBR list!!!
I read about 3 a month, but I haven’t read any in July! No favorites yet!
So, this review has me very curious about the violence angle…
This is pretty exciting! Free books and also reviews and by Jen. I don’t think it gets much better than that!
Iβm not sure when the 2nd book comes out but you can bet your sweet rear end that I will be 1-clicking that bad boy to see what happens with Trace, Nixon and Chase.
Love it. You crack me up Jen.
I sure don’t read as many books as I would like to read. With summer here, I am lucky to read one a month. Elite sounds like a very good book.
Oh man, This is a must read for me.
Jen your review got my heart racing for more.
My problem with reading is I can’t put it down and turn off the lights.
Next day at work I find myself with a (perfect description) reading hangover.
Jen,
I love your reviews, can’t wait for winter months to catch up on all your great books!
Ok Jen, you sold me on Elite.
What I can say about your reviews, Jen, is you have never steered me wrong.
I don’t read many books at all(maybe one to two a year), but I am commenting on here because Jen threatened to beat me up if I didn’t comment.
@ Jen. Just kidding on the previous comment. The review was great. I think I will get back into reading again. Well written. Great job.
This book sounds interesting to say the least! I am sitting here trying to decide if I should run and buy it or put it on my TBR list!!
