USA Today bestselling author Sarah Morgan heats up the season with the O’Neil brothers in a brand-new holiday series!
Synopsis:
Once upon a time, Christmas was Kayla Green’s favorite time of year. Now all the workaholic wants for Christmas is for it to be over—as fast as possible! So when duty calls her to snowy Vermont to close a deal with a new client, Kayla is grateful for an excuse to avoid the holidays for another year.
Jackson O’Neil left a thriving business behind to return home and salvage his family’s resort—it’s in his blood, and he can’t let it fail. Now that he’s got marketing whiz Kayla Green working with him to put Snow Crystal on the map, success is on the horizon. The fact they strike enough sparks off each other to power all the Christmas lights in Vermont is just an added bonus.
Kayla might be an expert at her job, but she’s out of her depth with Jackson—he makes her crave the happy-ever-after she once dreamed of, and it’s terrifying. As the snowflakes continue to swirl, will the woman who doesn’t believe in the magic of Christmas finally fall under its spell?
Jen from Imperfect Women’s Review:
You know how sometimes, when you finish a really sweet book, you get that silly, goofy smile plastered to your face that’s so genuine and wide it kinda makes you feel like a weirdo? Yeah, that was me after I finished reading my first holiday romance, Sleigh Bells in the Snow. This was really a very sweet love story, set in the uber-romantic fictional town of Snow Crystal, Vermont. As far as settings go, Snow Crystal has to be one of my favorites! It was like something out of a fairytale. Sarah created this beautiful, romantic place where anything is possible and it made me want to spend my Christmas there!
Kayla Green is a superstar PR expert and uses her job to avoid anything real in life. You can sense her loneliness from a mile away, but she does everything to keep everyone from getting too personal and close with her. The poor girl doesn’t even do casual relationships. She’s a closed book and her selfish parents are to blame. Yes, I wanted to kick them for being such jerkwads! Christmas time sends her into a deep funk, and with December 25th looming, she jumps at the chance to take on a new client – Jackson O’Neil and the Snow Crystal Resort and Spa, where she thinks she’ll be escaping the Christmas holiday buzz.
Jackson O’Neil is smart, motivated and really freaking handsome! One of three brothers, he is a go-getter and determined to save his family’s business, The Snow Crystal Resort and Spa. Jackson knows Kayla is a master at putting a business on the map, so he seeks her out to help him save the business his father has put in jeopardy. What he doesn’t expect is to feel such a deep connection with Kayla. Even though he is driven to save the business, you can feel the tug of Kayla distracting him, causing him to feel and want things he wasn’t planning on. What I loved about Jackson was that when he decided he wanted Kayla, he didn’t fight himself or let Kayla push him too far away.
Watching Jackson pursue Kayla, while Kayla falls in love with the fairytale-esque setting of Snow Crystal was really special. In order for Kayla to market Snow Crystal properly, she has to experience all that the Resort and Spa has to offer. Jackson uses all the best parts of Snow Crystal to show Kayla what he’s feeling for her. Let me tell you, the sparks between Jackson and Kayla are hot enough to melt the frozen Vermont winter and these two are smoking hot each and every time they connect! If you like a sweet, contemporary romance novel that has wonderfully detailed characters and settings, then I strongly recommend you give this one a try!
My rating: 4.5 snow melting stars!
Author Sarah Morgan has graciously answered a few questions for Imperfect Women:
1. Do you prefer a white Christmas or a sunny beachy Christmas?
White Christmas every time! Is there anything better than cold, crisp air, blue skies and snow? Not for me. It’s magical. And I live in the UK where our traditional Christmas lunch is roast turkey and there is no way I’d be able to produce that in hot weather. I’d be roasting right along with the turkey. I have Australian friends who cook outside and I’m sure that’s really special, but if I could choose then I’d rather be snuggled in front of a log fire than slapping on sunscreen.
2. Tyler and Brenna, what inspired their relationship?
Tyler is the youngest of the O’Neil brothers. He’s the risk taker, the daredevil, the bad boy, a gold medal winning downhill skier until an injury cut short his career. He and Brenna have known each other all their lives. Brenna virtually grew up with the three O’Neil brothers and did everything they did, no matter how daring. She’s also talented skier and very athletic and sporty. Now she’s working with Tyler running the Outdoor Center at Snow Crystal but their relationship isn’t always easy. Brenna has been in love with Tyler her whole life but Tyler hurt her badly when he got a girl pregnant at eighteen. A lot of time has passed and Jess, his daughter, now lives with him at Snow Crystal. Brenna is probably the only girl in the village who Tyler hasn’t kissed, but she’s also a true friend and he isn’t going to risk that friendship by taking it further. She’s too important to him. Theirs is a friends to lovers story but there are going to be a few twists in their relationship and a few surprises. I’m about to start writing their story now and I’m so excited about it because I love these two characters so much. The book will be out October 2014.
3. Describe your perfect day.
My perfect day would probably mean waking up with a view of blue skies and snowy mountains. Then I’d have a delicious cappuccino and spend a few hours on my laptop, working on my latest story. I do love writing and a perfect day for me would always have writing in it. Then I’d read for a while (a perfect day has reading in it, too), meet friends for lunch, go for a long hike with my family in the afternoon and then a romantic dinner with my husband.
