Black Friday

By Pam@IW

TweetPinEmailPrintYummlyLinkedInLikeShareShares24

The stores are opening earlier and earlier every year for Black Friday. Are you one of the brave ones who ventures out at midnight? What is/was your game plan? Can you share any great buys you found this year or of any years past.

Have you heard about this family from St. Petersburg, Florida who pitched two tents in front of a Best Buy nine days before Black Friday even begins! The manager of the mall was so impressed that he presented them with the “First Family of Black Friday” award and brand new IPads.

For those of you that don’t participate in this shopping frenzy- share with us what you like to do with this wonderful day off of work.

I don’t participate in this shopping day. I think my husband and I got up early one year and went to Circuit City when it was still in business and saw a ridiculously long line and said never again.

We will just run some errands on this day and have leftovers and watch some television. Maybe do a little shopping on the internet. It is so much more comfortable standing in line. 😉

    Morning Pam=

Did shoppping after midnight on-line, Younkers site was down, but this am working and got what I wanted. Coupons galore, no need to shop in the big malls. The deals were better than advertised where people were standing in line for. Win, win!!! Leftovers also, laundry and the Christmans music playing today. The new Glee cd is fab.

I don’t understand this American tradition 🙂 I have no desire to start. In Canada the day after Christmas is our crazy shopping day. I don’t go out even if I can get a good deal. I never went out on Boxing Day neither. The family will probably watch some Disney movies today and just hang around in our PJ’s and chill.

Snickers congrats on the deals. I can’t stand the crowds and never go out either.

Darlene, we’re doing the same thing. Still in our PJs, watching tv and playing board games.

Hope everyone had a great holiday.

Today is PJ day at our house. Pie for breakfast, leftovers, Wii, and we are onto our second movie. THankful for Netflix. 🙂

I spent some money last evening and got some Christmas shopping done. Old Navy, Best Buy, and Walmart all had great prices. The lists are growing!

My Sister called me at 8am and she and my teenage Niece had been at the Mall since 5:30AM! That is the last thing I would ever want to do! I was still in my bathrobe enjoying my coffee at 10AM! Something I have never done before but I am really making an effort to enjoy the little moments especially when our lives are always so busy. What are we rushing around for anyway?

I would consider participating in Black Friday if: I had money burning a hole in my pocket and I had a bunch of people to buy presents for, especially kids and/or those who like electronics. Since I don’t fit any of those conditions, I stayed home and slept in.

I’ve never gone shopping in store on black friday but I do some online shopping, many of the sales start online on Thursday.

This year my husband was working in Louisiana so 3 of my kids and myself drove there to be with him.

Hope you had a nic drive, stxmom. I am guessing you drove from south Texas?

Don’t forget- tomorow is “Cyber Monday.” Everyone goes back to work and spends the first 4 hours getting their Christmas shopping done online, lol. I have much of mine ordered and even paid for!

Anyone know what I should get my father-in-law? He’s so difficult to buy for…

I am a Black Friday nut but this year didn’t go very well. I was just exhausted, we went shoping almost immediately after Thanksgiving dinner, and got home at noon the next day, I didn’t get to sleep til 11 Friday night. Target was so bad we couldn’t even walk through, we left after 10 minutes. I got some good deals on Christmas supplies like wrapping paper, ribbon, tabe, gift bags etc but it wasn’t worth going out for!

Yes Ann, we drove from South Texas to Logansport, Louisiana, for normal people its about a 7 hr drive for us it took 9 almost 10 hours.

Cyber Monday is the best. You can shop right now and put it in a cart and click on tomorrow. I just purchased 2 nice coats for my kids, over 70% off with coupons. Check out Brads Deals also if you are looking for high end items.
