April Is A Promise ~ April’s Open Forum

April's open forumApril is a promise that May is bound to keep. ~ Hal Borland

Today is a day for a Fool! Happy April Fool’s Day. If you get somebody good or if you are fooled by a prank, please share.

Did you know that April is National Soft Pretzel Month? I particularly like mine smeared with warmed cream cheese. I am a lover of bread. There is no need for dessert if you have fresh bread. Besides, you can always have a bit of chocolate later on. For me, it was love at first bite as a child after a fun-filled day at the amusement park. Yes, I remember the first time I ever ate a soft pretzel. It was that delicious and I quickly spent all that was left of my money for the day on two more to take home.

It’s Take Your Daughters and Sons To Work Day on Thursday, April 25. If you take your child to work stop by and tell us how it went.

Mother’s Day is coming up next month. If there’s a child in your life needing to make a present for mom, they can’t go wrong with these suggestions by CraftyMomof3.

Imperfect Women welcomes Jen to our team!  Be sure to check out Jen’s reviews of her latest reads in the Book Nook.

A self-admitted addict of reading, we are fortunate to have her share her impressions and tips on what not to miss. Connected written by Kim Karr, comes highly recommended.

Please be sure to check in for our newest feature Throwback Thursdays. Molly and Jen share memories of their grandmothers, Pam looks back at Easter 1960 and Jennie recalls Christmas at her grandfather’s home. We’d love for you to share a memory stirred by a picture. If you’d like to participate, send your favorite pic and memory from your past to info@imperfectwomen.com. Be sure to let us know what year it’s from.

Emil made a bunch of us tear up with Grandpa’s Advice.  Just go there and read it, because I will get all verklepmt if I try to discuss it.

IW’s classic post of the month is Pam’s chat with Matt Paxton of A&E’s Hoarders. Matt comes clean on life in this entertaining interview. If you are a fan of the show, you will also be interested in Pam’s interview with Dorothy Breininger also known as Dorothy the Organizer. Dorothy shares her top ten organizational tips.with Imperfect Women.

We would also like to give a shout out to everyone with a birthday or anniversary this month! Let us know in the comment section below so we can celebrate with you. As always, please use this thread for Open Discussion!

Thanks for the welcome! I’m so stinking excited to be a part of IW and to share my love of books. If anyone ever has any good book recommendations, I’m all ears!

I plan on pranking at few people at work today so I will keep you all informed on how that goes. My son tried to prank me already this morning, the little stinker. 🙂

Howdy friends, I’ve missed you all. I love spring! We have one more week of spring soccer, only 8 more weeks of school. Big girl is playing kickball right now, this is the first year my little girl hasn’t played kickball too, she just was interested and my little boy is not playing baseball.

My oldest son is all settled in his first apartment. He says he’s a little lonely and its too quiet there, we see him often he always seems to show up near meal time.

Prom is next Saturday, my big girl has her dress, shoes, jewelry and a picture of the hair style she wants. The trend here is to go in groups, her group has planned where they are eating and whose house they are going to after prom.

Welcome spring! 🙂 My favorite season when the bulbs start popping out of the ground and the the tree’s are budding out. The up’s and downs of the weather again this year, but hopefully in the next two weks I will begin to plant my garden and enjoy my flower gardens. Here’s wishing you all new blooms in your life this year, just puts a smile on your face when something new pops up even tho you had them last year! I am planning some new walk paths this year and can’t wait to get started. 🙂

Hello everyone! Wow stxmom, only 8 more weeks of school. You must have an early dismissal there. How exciting for Prom. Enjoy every minute of it, it goes by so fast.

Snickers, hope you have a great season this year. I know it is still cold in many parts of the country.

    Pam,

We are getting much needed rain today and looks like a cool forecast for the week. After a drought year last year, many are doing the happy dance here.:) Many oats were drilled last week, so the rain is right on schedule for them. Enjoy your sunshine!

Well, my big girl is off to prom, she looks absolutely stunning. She is only a junior so we get to do this all over again next year. I didn’t have any tears until I hugged her and she said “thanks for making me feel like a princess today” then I cried. Hubby even shed a few tears. When she was getting in the car he told her “have fun, be safe and call me to check in every 30 minutes”. She went to prom last year as a sophomore with a friend who was a junior but this year I’m more emotional for some reason.

That is wonderful, stxmom. I hope she has a wonderful time.

Every 30 minutes. Oh my! LOL

    Report back tomorrow.

stxmom, cause she just keeps getting older. I think it’s more emotional the older they get and there’s no doubt they are really growing up. I hope she has wonderful evening.

she said “thanks for making me feel like a princess today”

    That’s a heart-melter. What a nice thing for a mom to hear.

Echoing Pam’s shout out to Jen! Whoo hooo! on your reviews.

Prom was over at midnight, she was home by 12:30. She didn’t check in every 30 minutes but did occasionally text us and send us pictures. She brought her date for the evening and 2 other friends home with her, they watched Wreck It Ralph then all went home. Last soccer game of the spring season today, sports banquet tomorrow then things slow down a little for us.

On Monday my 9 yr old daughter came home from school with a birthday party invitation – she said “no parents are allowed” which surprised me since she’s never wanted to be left at any place without Mom, Dad or Grammy (our live in sitter) staying with her. On Thursday she said “parents can stay for a little bit”. Today on the way to the party she said “Moms can stay for the party”. I stayed for most of it but about 30 minutes before the party was over she said “I’m ok, you can leave now”. She’s not a shy child but it very cautious. I did leave and check out a little store next door.

Did she have a good time? Cautious is good. My kids never wanted me to stray too far when they were that young.

Yes, she had a really good time & she is becoming really good skater too. She’s never spent the night at anyone else’s house except grandparents. She’s had friends spend the night with her but when they invite her she isn’t interested and I’d never force her to because I want her to trust her gut feeling.
