A Craft Project to Dress Up Your Flower Pots

Craft project for flower pots

By Lily Doe

If you are looking for a fun and frugal way to dress up your yard, look no further than these bouncy ball mushrooms. With just a few supplies from your dollar store, you can make these whimsical mushrooms perfect for tucking into your flower pots and flower beds. They only take minutes to make, and children will love this craft as will adults. Take a look!

Supplies needed:
Foam bouncy balls
Knife
Chopsticks
Paint

We found our bouncy ball at our local Dollar Tree store for just $1. There was a selection of colors and patterns, so you could make a variety of these if you wish. Make sure the ball you choose is foam, as any other material won’t work with this project.

Bouncy Ball Mushroom Craft 12

Begin by cutting the bouncy ball in half. Start by taking your knife along the seam of the foam. This will ensure that you cut the ball evenly. Slowly cut through the foam until your ball is in two halves. Set aside.

Now, apply two coats of paint to your chopsticks. We used basic white spray paint. You can use whatever you have on hand whether it be spray or brush on paint. Allow to dry.

Once your chopsticks are dry, you will insert them into the mushrooms so they look like stems. Press the chopsticks in about 1 ½ inches.

Now all you need to do is decide where you wish to display your mushrooms.

To display your mushrooms, press the end into the soil. Press it so it is about 3 inches deep. This will help keep it secure. You can stick these mushrooms right into your flower pots, flower beds, even your vegetable gardens. They are fun way to add color and charm to your yard for less.

I was confused at first but these after reading the entire post, these are really cute. Cute to stick around a plant.

I never would have thought to do that, but I love this idea. Beach balls are pretty inexpensive, too, so this is a really fun way to make the plants/flowers look a little snazzy!

That is such an easy and cute idea. I wonder if my youngest would allow me to cut the balls in half once he was done playing with them.

My boys would never let me cut one of their balls, but then again, theirs aren’t this cute, either. They have all Batman, SpongeBob and other ones with characters on them!
