Whether you like witty, sexy, traditional, quirky or romantic stories, A Christmas to Remember has something for every reader’s taste. All 5 short stories were unique with their spin on Christmas Romance. While I enjoyed each one for different reasons, they all left me with a warm heart and a little bit of Christmas magic. This is the perfect set of stories to get you into the holiday spirit!
Dream a Little Dream by Jill Shalvis
Not everyone is lucky enough to get a second chance. Ian and Melissa were seeing each other but when Ian wants to make it more official, Melissa calls it quits. When a near disaster makes her rethink her life’s choices, she realizes she has to make things right with Ian before it’s too late. Ian is super sweet and totally in love with Melissa. She and Ian have a connection that will melt your heart. I really loved Ian and Melissa together! This story was the perfect mixture of funny and sexy. I enjoyed it so much, that I wished it would have been a full length novel.
Every Year by Kristen Ashley
The Allen family spends their Christmas together, creating some pretty special memories. I wasn’t familiar with all the characters in this story, not having read the Chaos series before, but no worries, you get enough history within the book that you’re able to follow right along. Tabby is the girlfriend to Shy, who is the brother to Landon. The holidays are tough for Landon and Shy but Tabby and her family really pull out all the stops to include them in their family traditions. I actually cried during the present opening scene. This story went from sweet and sappy (which had me crying) to red hot (which had me fanning myself) between Shy and Tabby. I’m going to have to read the rest of the Chaos series now!
Silent Night by Hope Ramsay
This was one of the more traditional stories in the group, taking on a bit of a religious theme. I was worried it might be too much for me, but it really wasn’t. This was more of a story about fate and destiny bringing together two people who should have met years ago. Maryanne is a single mom, down on her luck. She travels to a small town to try to find family and ends up meeting a stranger named Daniel. Daniel needs some saving of his own, and meeting Maryanne gives him the nudge he needs to begin his own healing. Any kind of story where a baby is involved just tugs at my heart strings and this one definitely did some tugging. I may shed a tear or 3 when Maryanne reaches her breaking point. But Daniel really made me melt at the end with his kindness. If this were to be turned into a full length novel, I’d pick it up!
Have Yourself A Messy Little Christmas by Molly Cannon
This story had me laughing out loud! It was super sweet and quirky and I really enjoyed each and every word. Lincoln is a workaholic bachelor who can’t keep his house clean. His mom hires a personal organizer to help him get his house into shape for Christmas. Lincoln resists at first, but as he and Dinah get to know each other, he realizes he actually likes her. Their spark sizzles when they finally get together but Dinah freaks about being unprofessional. It was fun to see up-tight, numbers-cruncher Lincoln get swept up in this sweet romance. I thought the plot was different than anything else I’ve read. I’ll be reading more from Molly Cannon for sure!
A Family for Christmas by Marilyn Pappano
This was my absolute favorite out of all 5 stories. Ilena is a war widow with a young son named John. She is very sweet and down to earth and I loved her quirky sense of humor. She meets Jared, a big city doctor who has taken a small town hospital job where she lives. Jared and Ilena’s connection is almost instant, but more than just physical. He never expects to meet someone like Ilena there, let alone fall in love with her and her son. I loved Ilena’s inner-strength. She is such an open, loving character that you can’t help but root for her and Jared to make it. When Jared’s offered a big city job and his big city parents are pushing for him to take it, Jared has to decide where his future is. I really, really hope the author does more with these characters!
