Let’s face it, viewers don’t tune into the Emmy Awards to see who takes home the Outstanding Sound Editing For Nonfiction Programming (Single Or Multi-Camera) award. We tend to want drama, surprises, and a few wardrobe mishaps or unexpected knock-it-out of the parks.
A few random thoughts:
-Fashion. Next to the Oscars, is there a bigger fashion show that takes place during the year? Sofia Vergara. Julianna Margulies. Mariska Hargitay. Connie Britton. Dame Judi Dench. Christina Hendricks. I can’t wait to see them all. I love it all the more that most of these women are over 35 and a few of them wear something higher than a size 2.
-Jon Hamm is very very very pretty and I hope to see a LOT of him. Sigh…
-Everyone is wondering what sort of acceptance speech Conan O’Brien will give if he wins for Outstanding Variety, Music Or Comedy Series.
–Will this be the Year of the Newbies, e.g., “Glee” and “Modern Family” or will the academy show respect to the veterans and also reward those that have gone to TV heaven such as “Lost”?
-How will Jimmy Fallon handle hosting duties? There have been news reports hyping that the show will go digital this year, incorporating Facebook and Twitter. Um. Not sure what to think about that.
-Two of my favorite people George Clooney and Betty White will be there. And guess, who else — Kate Gosselin! Go Kate. Can’t wait to see you!
So are you watching all or part of the show? Who are you rooting for and/or against? Share your thoughts.
I’m watching the red carpet interviews/fashion show right now. Kate looked GORGEOUS. Her hair is so stunning, very soft.
Well, i am onlywatching because KATE will be on!! usually I just tune in and out occassionally just to see what’s happening!!
It’s on! Kate is great- too funny!
What did you think, Mom of KT? She’s dancing just great tonight.
Great skit. I’m happy for Kate. That looks like a ton of fun!
That was soooo funny! She did great!
awww how cute! It sure says alot of who is in that opening skit!!!
I somehow MISSED THE WHOLE THING!!!!
http://www.examiner.com/tv-in-national/emmys-2010-kate-gosselin-picture
beautiful pic of Kate on the red carpet here
Im sure Youtube will have it up soon
Those are great pictures. Thanks for the link.
I really feel happy for her. I really hope she’s having fun (and that she got Tina Fey’s autograph, another SE PA native.)
What??? Mom of KT? How did you miss it?
We will have to find it for her on You Tube like Lindsay suggested and place the link here.
It was fabulous! I can’t believe Kate was up there on the opening stage w/all those other stars. How fun was that?
I missed it too, I really wanted to see her on the red carpet. I had set the vcr set in case I didn’t get back in time so I could watch the opening. Yes, it should go up or be somewhere on the net soon. We’ll link it for you Mom of KT.
So happy for Kate. She looked fabulous and did a great job. WTG Kate!
Lindsay, thanks for that link. Kate looks so elegant.
Kate looked incredible on the red carpet. I loved her hair.
I also thought she did very well in the opening sequence.
Mom of Kate, wow, she looks fab!!! I love the soft look of her hair, and black is so becoming on her.
I missed the red carpet (we were celebrating my mother’s 90th birthday!).
Kate looks great in the pictures. Did anyone see if she was on the E! red carpet show? They always rerun those.
And there she was, dancing live on stage at the Emmys. Who would have ever dreamed that a year ago?
Yeah my girls loved her hair best, and she posed beautifully. She really showed off her hard work on her figure! How proud and excited the kids must be. I hope they got to see it!
Who would have ever dreamed that a year ago?-Kiki
2009- not Kate’s year
2010- definitely Kate’s year!
i wish i could hook up my dvr to post the opening. it was really cute… i didn’t notice til I re watched it where Kate knocks the girl out of the way just before they go out on stage. it looked like so much fun and it really shows that you reap what you sow in life. i believe in karma. Kate kept her head high this past year and she is reaping all the great rewards God has bestowed on her and her family.
LOST should win this drama category…
I loved the last episode.
Boo! Madmen. Boo!
Anya will be happy, I guess, so that’s ok.
ITA Lindsey, we laughed at each thing Kate did, we loved when she shoved the Glee girl, and she danced just fine at the end, didn’t she? How cool that she was dancing with Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon!
I wanted Andre Braugher from Men of Certain Ages for Best Supporting Actor. I love, love, love that show.
I never watch the Emmys. Do they give out awards for individual episodes. I want that final episode of LOST to win something, or maybe Matthew Fox can win something? I don’t even know who was nominated for anything. If it weren’t for Kate, I wouldn’t have watched. Now I care!
We usually watch the Emmys but most of the time I am a little lost with some of the categories. Can you believe I have never seen an episode of Lost?
I don’t think they have awards for individual episodes.
Kate looked stunning and her skit was funny. I love her ability to laugh at herself.
Kate’s gotten more sucess and attetnion out of her DWTS ‘failure’ than the actual winner has.
And in that Kate is a winner!
I went back to working on a project after the opening. The major thing I watch for are the dresses and, this year, Kate. I thought Kate was great and looked beautiful and classy on the red carpet (I was watching E! so I missed Billy Bush interviewing her on NBC) and fantastic in the skit (which confirms my belief that whoever did her hair and makeup for the original paparazzi number on DTWS should be drummed out of their professions for total incompetence.). She looked confident and relaxed and was very funny in the skit. I’d heard earlier that Jimmy Fallon described her as a “good sport”. For a comic like Fallon that ‘s high praise.
I usually cant make it thru a whole awards show… but since Lost lost both of the categories that were up.. Ive moved on to watching a movie now lol! I only tuned in for the opening! Now on to the tear jerker The Last Song!
Jimmy Fallon just earned his paycheck for his tribute to the three shows leaving television this year- 24, Law & Order, and LOST. Very funny.
Pam, I envy you. You have six seasons of LOST left to enjoy! I never watched until January of this year, but it was so entertaining! I am so sad that Matthew Fox didn’t win. I couldn’t stand his character for about 75% of the shows, but he acted his butt off in that final episode. He was good.
ROL just posted their first aticle for the Emmy’s. The first 20 women in their beautiful gowns and Kate is in there. Way to go kate!!!
I love The Closer so kudos to Kyra Sedgwick!
Thanks Snickers
I will go look.
Mom of KT and anyone else who missed it. Here it is. The video is towards the bottom of the page. Enjoy! It’s really good.
Yes ROL has Kate as one of the best dressed
Kate looked wonderful and she did a great job in the skit. There are great pictures of Kate on the red carpet on Sage’s site. Kate is absolutely stunning. I bet the kids are so excited watching their mom on such a big awards show. Kate’s mom and her family you must be so very proud of your daughter. She is personally such an inspiration to me in so many ways so I thank you for sharing your beautiful daughter with all of us.
Here is two links to the skit:

Go Kate!
Thanks Lily
I just added the video to this post
Pam, you are not alone. I have never seen one episode of Lost either. I do love getting the DVDs and watching shows I missed all in row. I did the the first 5 or 6 seasons of CSI that way.
Thanks, Lily! That was great!
For those that missed Billy Bush’s interview of Kate on the red carpet here is the link to it.
http://www.nbc.com/emmys/video/kate-gosselin/1246375/
Yea Kate you rock!
Thank you Lexxi for all of the links. Yes, Kate does rock!
Thanks Lexxi. She looked really beautiful in the dress and she came off great in her interview.
As for the opening number, I love how Kate can laugh at herself. So funny. But, my fav part was when the curtain opened and there she was, on stage. It was just neat to see her up there.
I agree Lily. I had a feeling that Kate would still be in the rest of the skit and I thought she did a great job. It takes someone with a great sense of humor to laugh at yourself and enjoy doing it. Oh my Kate looked stunning on the red carpet and her interview was grand. I’m more excited for her children as this is a huge moment for them that they will never forget.
I L O V E D this on so many levels.
First, I am huge Springsteen fan.
As if it weren’t enough to have Tina Fey, Jon Hamm and Tim Gunn – three people I adore in this skit, we got Kate too! I loved that she could take one of the lower points of DWTS and make us laugh with her.
Kate was simply awesome and I too loved seeing her on stage LIVE.
I am going to go watch again! 🙂
Thanks Ladies for all the links! I had the show on and STILL missed it! I am very busy taking care of my husband after his accident. Men are terrible patients!! He is doing better but he keeps me very busy. I enjoyed watching the video of Kate on the Emmy’s. I think she did GREAT! So proud of her!
Mom of KT I hope you hubby gets better soon. What awful news that he was in an accident. Yes men do make the worst patients so my heart does go out to you. I’m sure you are all so very proud of Kate. She did great. It was fantastic she was named among the BEST DRESSED. It’s not easy to make those lists so there is another thing to be proud of. Take care and I truly wish your family nothing but the best.
Hello Precious IW friends…It has been such a long time since I’ve posted; however, this is the only “place” that I check regularly to find out the latest on Kate and the kids! I’m so happy to report that I have (with the exception of a few “day surgeries”) been out of the hospital since early August and have had such an amazing time with my husband and kids. The doctors continue to give us bad news and say that my 2nd liver transplant has completely failed, but you know me….I put ALL of my hope and faith in The Lord! 🙂
Since I’ve been feeling so badly, I’ve started focusing on making “cherished moments” and memories with my family instead of expecting my body to be able to make it for an entire day. It’s not the way I would like to live at 39 years old; however I realize just how blessed I am to still be here.
SO…BACK TO KATE!! She looks absolutely positively GORGEOUS and did such a fantastic job in the skit AND the Billy Bush interview. I LOVE her dress and her hair and I can only imagine how excited her family and her kids are for her.
Ann, I TOTALLY AGREE that this is Kate’s year! I’m praying that 2011 is even better for her and the kids. And Lindsay, I think that you’re absolutely correct…God is blessing her for the way that she continually handles herself with grace and class.
I have a question since I’ve been absent for so long…is Mom of KT actually Kate’s mom?? If so, Mom of KT, you and your family must be so proud of your daughter. She is such an inspiration to me…especially on days when I am too weak to do very many activities. I think that if Kate can do it X8, I can do it w/two teens and a husband! 🙂
Sorry ladies for such a LONGG post, but I just wanted to let y’all know that you really are a blessing to me!
Love to all! Jacquelyn
Jacquelyn my prayers are with you. It’s difficult to deal with health issues on a daily basis. Trust me I know. I will keep you in my thoughts and sending only positive energy you way. Always try and stay positive and keep a sense of humor because I truly believe in the long run that will get you through your trials.
Yes it is Kate’s real mom and she has to be so proud of her daughter.
Love back at you!
Thank you so much Lexxi and you are so very right…my husband, kids and I are always laughing about anything we can laugh about…mostly ourselves and especially when I’m being taken in for a “dangerous and life threatening” surgery. We always say that we’ve got to laugh to keep from crying…otherwise, I really do think that we’d all go insane around here!
Also thank you for answering my question about Kate’s mom…yes!! She has SOO much to be proud of and I am so happy that she has joined our wonderful site. Our IW friends are always so classy and rise above the negative and I hope that her mom can see how much we love and support Kate and her precious babies! I also have to say that we even continue to hold out hope for Jon.
God Bless You Lexxi for your kind words! I’m signing off for the night…or shall I say early morning! 🙂 I get up and take my 10th grade daughter to school at 6 am!
I loved the opening to the Emmys. Kate was great, I loved Jon Hamm “back(ing) that thing up”, Betty White, the kids from Glee – it was all great. I’ve watched it several times.
I can’t argue with a Mad Men win though I loved Lost too. Both great shows; just very different. I was happy for Modern Family’s win, too. Great show.
MOKT – Sorry to hear about your husband. Hope it is nothing serious and he’s good as new soon!
I thought Kate’s sucess on the Emmy’s was a time to do a bit of ‘celebrating’ – so I took a break from my standard style of blog post and did a bit of celebrating.
All kinds of video’s of Kate’s different red carpet interviews, reviews, etc.
Ok, that link didn’t work out well.
just go to
Jacquelyn,
So good to hear from you. I’m glad you are out of the hospital and enjoyng the family. Will there be another liver transplant? This is bad news. 🙁 Stay strong and positive, as always, you are in my prayers.
Yes, Kate’s mom has been commenting here for awhile…since just after Kate’s DWTS days. She is using the screen name Mom of KT.
Thank you again for checking in and updating us!
I have to say she looked gorgeous! Truly gorgeous! Loved the dress, loved the hair. In my opinion she was nervous in her interviews …. loved the laughter…. that to me has always been one of her best features.
Some of the stuff this morning about her not belonging there, this that and the other thing is just silly. Kim Kardashian – what does she bring to TV? (though she is beautiful also). Did I hear the Jersey Shore people were there? Whoever they are. I’m sure they were a draw to someone if so. I mean look at Paris Hilton, she’s famous for being famous even before she had her reality show. It’s called variety entertainment there is always something for everyone.
Kate did a great job in the opening act….. her ability to laugh at herself is priceless. I’m glad she has opportunity to do fun things to support her family. Wouldn’t we all like to have her life? I’d much rather be able to spend a lot of my time taking care of my kids and have hair and make up done for special events instead of a 6:30-5 (in my case) job. I’d trade her, though I wouldn’t look as good in the dress. 🙂
I was thinking about something she said a way back about wanting to be a voice in a cartoon. I’d love to see that for her. The kids would be so excited. Maybe someday.
Oh, gosh, I missed the opening, which is the only good part, because I was reading to my son before bed… Thanks for posting it!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!
This is what the Daily Beast online magazine had to say about Kate: >>And one big surprise was Kate Gosselin, who looked somewhat out of place, but nevertheless great in an updo and a black cowl-neck dress.” http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheat-sheet/item/best-and-worst-dressed-at-the-emmys/fashion/?om_rid=CeZZyH&om_mid=_BMe6uaB8UOYV5d. I’m sure Kate DID feel a bit like how the heck did I get here, but she conducted herself like a red carpet veteran. MOKT, your little girl did great!
Reading around, I am just amazed at what people who dislike or “hate” Kate are saying. How bitter can you be? Do they realize how they come across. There are some articles out there that are not so nice but in general if you google Kate Gosselin at the Emmys you will come up with a whole lot of positive.
Kate Gosselin had the biggest day of her career yesterday and it did not involve the kids. All the negative going on at the “non friendly Kate” blogs just really shows that it has never been about the kids. It has always been about their obsession and hatred for “all things Kate.” I find that pretty sad and pathetic.
I actually tuned on the TV at the moment Jimmy Fallon wiped his brow and began his official introduction (AFTER the dance number)! Thanks so much for posting!
Kate did great! I LOVE that she had fun doing the whole skit and felt she did a super job on stage as well. I would have been a nervous wreck!
She looked FANTASTIC in her gown – it fit her beautifully! I LOVED the updo, too!
Now, on the the winners — I’m embarrassed to admit the only two movies/mini-series winners that I actually have seen were/are The Pacific and You Don’t Know Jack — both VERY deserving of the awards they took home.
Now I’m dying to see Temple Grandin – wow – they really swept up the awards last night. Has anyone seen it?
– singing my silly song with new verses –
– Kate went to the Emmy’s, Kate went to the Emmy’s –
–Kate was a hit at the Emmy’s, Kate way a hit at the Emmy’s —
Pam – I agree wholeheartedly! It’s really reveals alot about the naysayers – and it isn’t nice.
I loved the whole opening! Other than knowing that Kate was going to be a part of it, I had no idea who else would be there or what they would do, and I was both pleasantly surprised and excited to see some of my faves singing and dancing with Jimmy Fallon. Kate was an awesome part of the show, and I’m thrilled that she did so well! Kudos, Kate!
I also thought that she looked very beautiful in her gown. It fit her perfectly. Her hair looks amazing up! I think it was a great night for Kate!
Jacquelyn, You are truly an inspiration to all of us! I’m sorry to hear that things are not going well, but am always amazed at your uplifting attitude!
Jacquelyn, I was just this AM thinking about you and thinking when I got a chance to read IW I would inquire about you but you beat me to the punch. So glad to hear from you and you keep up that wonderful spirit. God loves you and so do all the IW posters. You are in the prayers of cyberspace from all of us.
IW ladies, you rock. Thanks for all the links and all your tributes and kudo’s to Kate. It is quite heart warming to read all the positives about her.
MOKT………”you’ve got a lovely daughter”.
Now I’m dying to see Temple Grandin – wow – they really swept up the awards last night. Has anyone seen it?
It was on one time when I was doing something else but I had to mute the sound because Claire Danes as Temple Grandin was so off-putting…just irritating to me. I don’t mean to say it’s a bad movie, just not my thing. I’ve heard good things about Temple Grandin (the person), but her mannerisms really kind of rub me the wrong way (I feel bad saying this, because I don’t think she can help it).
I know Temple Grandin’s mannerisms can be off putting, but that is part of autism. She is educating the public on autism. And the public better get educated soon, because there has been an explosion in the diagnosis. My son is autistic and when I take him in public, I know people don’t understand when he acts inappropriately. It is a constant battle that we deal with (trying to get him “normal”) . I am grateful to Claire Danes and HBO for spotlighting autism. A lot of people(myself included) only have “Rain Man” as a point of reference.
Ziggy…. You’re right about the haters. They hate Kate for being Kate…. to pick apart a person for no reason is quite sad. Personally I think the reason is a combination of jealousy and people with to much time on their hands. (waiting for the haters to flock down upon me) Last night wasn’t about the Kate +8 show (formerly J&K+8), not about child labor laws, not about her parenting skills… just her. I, and I’m not a minority think she did a great job. If I had to say anything negative was in some interviews she did appear a bit unfriendly – nerves. I’m assume she was in awe of the whole event and just nervous. She performed like an experienced performer and for that she should be proud. Her bit was funny! She seemed nervous like she did on DWTS – a bit cool (not cold) but her laughter was genuine.
That video was awesome. I don’t watch Mad Men but John Hamm is one good looking dude. Very cool all a way around…and Kate did great…her small part was pretty funny!!
First of all I must say to Jacquelyn: You are SUCH an inspiration to me–it is SO wonderful that you are trusting the Lord after all you have and are going through! You are such a testimony to your children of a woman of God. I am sure they will carry your example with them always and will become great people for the Lord. GOD BLESS YOU!! I want to know that you are now at the top of my prayer list–I promise to pray for you EVERY day. I think you know that PRAYER CHANGES THINGS.
Thanks everyone for the nice comments about Kate. I think she did an awesome job with that skit—Soooo Funny! I have already told her that I think she may have a future in comedy!!
My husband is doing well–thanks ladies for asking. He was rear-ended as he was trying to make a left turn. His car was totalled.
Ziggy–love the new verse to your little jingle!!
If you would all pray for Clairissa (Kate’s sister) She pulled a muscle in her leg (we think). Anyway, she is in tons of pain when she tries to walk. It’s been almost a wk. and she isn’t too much better.
Thanks Everyone–Blessings to you all!
Jacquelyn – I’m sorry to hear about your condition. Laughter does lighten the load, doesn’t it?
When I hear of things such as this, there really doesn’t seem much else to say as sometimes less words are more. My heart goes out to you.
MOKT – I think my jingle may be one with no end!
I hope your husband is doing better and will certainly keep you other daughter in thoughts & prayers. Also, MOKT, if you are interested, I have done a, oh my, over board shall we say, spread on all things Kate Emmy related. Of course, all good! Every video and review I could find. I was so pleased to see so much good review for Kate, I got carried away. But I felt after so much negative written about her so unfairly and unearned, the good must be spread and celebrated. She’s taken a lot of unfair hits and deserved the good reviews.
And I will proudly state I used NOTHING but official press, no pap items at all. Not ONE!
You’re absolutely right. I didn’t mean to be insensitive (well, to be honest I kind of knew I was being insensitive but I didn’t take the time to be clear). It may be that if I knew Temple Grandin IRL her mannerisms wouldn’t bother me – it was just in the short time I was paying attention on screen Danes was really grating. When I see someone in public who is clearly autistic or has some sort of other disorder that leads to “acting out”, I am not judgmental (or usually bothered even). You make a good point about the film and the recognition it’s received educating people on autism and autism-spectrum disorders.
Jennie,
I totally understand where you are coming from. I am the first one to admit that being around someone with autism can get on your last good nerve :). And I felt the same way about the tv movie that Rosie O’Donell made…something about riding a bus with my sister. I found her over the top and grating. I just meant that as a society, anything we can do to educate ourselves will help, because it is going to be so prevalent. We are going to have a lot of adults with autism, and we have to find a way to incorporate them into society.
I am putting Temple Grandin on my list of films to see. I have a growing interest in autism, as I see the explosion Wendy mentions showing up in our schools now. I’ve done a lot of asking, reading, and watching autistic children, and have the pleasure of working with many in the summer. I have so much more to learn!
Thanks Wendy for your comments about autism. The tricky part about people in the high-functioning segment of the autistic population is that even though they really can’t control all of the off-putting behavior (although they are usually controlling more than you might think), people have a hard time believing it because they are frequently so intelligent. My 21-year old son was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome during high school and can amaze us with knowledge about subjects that interest him, but math and social skills seem forever out of his reach.
The reason the Temple Grandin story is so amazing is the determination of her mother to give Temple the opportunities and experiences that all parents want for their children. Also, Temple’s interest in the humane treatment of animals, even when they are part of our food chain, is very inspiring.
