Justin Timberlake has conquered music, film and the Saturday Night Live stage. But the newly-engaged actor may be turning his attention towards settling down and showing his lighter side, with the announcement that his latest venture is the launch of a home design line of products. He’s calling it “HomeMint”, and it’s a collaboration between Timberlake and his good friend and interior designer Estee Stanley. The HomeMint line will include home goods that are made for daily use, including rugs, cereal bowls, and tea glasses. Elle Décor magazine was the first to break the story.
Timberlake is adamant that the line release items that he’d be comfortable having in his own home. They’ll launch in stores this coming May. There will also be a membership program for new fans of HomeMint. For a $10 monthly fee, members will receive early access to new product releases, as well as discounts on current products. Obviously, you don’t have to join the membership program to purchase from the line.
The actual work will be backed by BeachMint, a design and beauty company that has powered other celebrity lines, including StyleMint by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and JewelMint from Kate Bosworth. Estee Stanley describes the aesthetic of her line with Timberlake as “European”, and calls out Christian Liaigre and Axel Vervoordt as inspirations. For Timberlake, his relationship with Stanley was the fuel behind the venture. He jokingly called her “the sister that I never got to terrorize” in Elle magazine.
This happy news comes on the heels of Timberlake’s marriage proposal to his longtime girlfriend and fellow superstar Jessica Biel. There has been much back and forth about the engagement in the celebrity media, which came to a head in January when Biel was spotted out on the town without her engagement ring. But later photos showed her wearing it again, and fans of the power couple breathed a big sigh of relief.
People magazine featured a photo spread of Biel in Paris, shopping for a wedding dress. The latest gossip suggests she and Justin will tie the knot sometime this summer. A source close to the couple claimed there was some disagreement as to the type of wedding they would have. Timberlake apparently wanted a big wedding with all the bells and whistles, while Biel was pressing for an intimate affair. It sounds like Timberlake won that battle, so keep an eye out for photos from what will surely be an incredible affair.
One is left to wonder how Timberlake will carve out enough time in his schedule to be involved in HomeMint, and whether he’ll actively sign off the products released. Some celebrities design every aspect of their branded product line, while some merely lend their name to a manufacturer. Chances are since Timberlake is close friends with the designer, he’ll have at least a bit of a say. So fans of his movies and music can rest assured that the roller blinds they buy with his name on it have at least an outside chance of hanging in the newlywed couple’s home.
